Yeah, that one was taken on a recent trip to Jamaica

Can't really help with the model shoot thing unless you want to come to Brighton, know a few down here, not too sure what they charge though.

There are loads of photographers about who would do that.

I have done two shoots with models recently and worked on the basis of what is normally called TFCD or TFP (time for CD or Time for Prints).

The theory is that less experienced models and photographers both work unpaid and at the end both get shots for their portfolio. The only thing to make sure is that the photographer isn't going to use the shots for commercial purposes without the model knowing.

Depends where she is based really and what kind of stuff she is after.

Well she is based in Merseyside, but how can you stop peeps from using stuff commercially? Would you need to draft up a small contract or something?

Being free would be beneficial Gareth, dont suppose you know anyone in teh North West or Merseyside for that matter.

Im guessing id need to find a suitable locale as well right? Hmm.....

No, I don't know of anyone i'm afraid but her best bet is to get her to register on purestorm.com or modelmayhem.com.

She will need at least a few shots just to register but once she has, if she has a good look, i'm sure she will find some photographers happy to work with her. They will often have their own studio or access to one.

She also needs to look in to Model Release forms etc. These are the contractual side of things concerning use of images etc.

Thanks Gareth mate, thats very helpful info, will pass the info on. Out of curiosity how do you do your shoots? Do you have your own set up?

Also, is it common to have female photographers or is it a male dominated industry behind the camera?

I have only just started dabbling with model shoots. I did one in a studio and one from home (have a large very blank room) which lots of models seem used to. I have some kit, a decent flash and two softboxes.

I think female photographers are available but certainly not common. There are a few on both the sites I mentioned above.

                    Bloody hell.

I assume that's from a paper or something?
Is it from the forest fires in the US?

                      Great stuff as usual guys.

Haven't had the chance to go out much with the camera recently, but had a day at the seaside on Thursday More to follow when I get round to it!

I thought seeing as we are approaching Halloween that I would post what is by far the scariest photo I've ever taken of my usually beautiful looking cat Bootsy. He usually looks all cute like this:

But on this occasion, he turned out like this:

                        Aarrgghh! Scary fecker!

Dan, that's one demon cat. Hard to believe it the same as in the previous shot! Were you pulling it's tail? I bet you were

This shot was taken by me about nine years ago, the first time I visited New York City.

Been going through my prints this evening, some from when I first started taking photos some thirty years ago ...

This is one of the first shots I ever took, with a Kodak Instamatic 126 canister film camera. Like one of these

                                One from this evening:

I went to my first ever Flickr Meet yesterday evening and jolly good fun it was too. There's now a million pics on flickr of the Brighton meet and us all geeking over Lomokev's moo postcards and flickr stickers etc!
