After much laziness and thought, these are the 2009 Winners.
They receive the Prinny Stamp of Quality:
Bottle
Gold: St Austell, Admiral's Ale, 5% 9.5/10
Silver: Brewdog Hardcore IPA, 9% 9/10
Bronze: Adnams William Godell Celebratory Ale, 4.5% 9/10!
nb: silver and bronze may change by tomorrow when I check the book. I've managed to lose the contenders list I wrote out.
Cask
Gold: Cropton Brewery, Blackout, 5%, 10/10
Silver: Sharp's Nadelik, 4.6%. 9.5/10
Bronze: Hawkshead Bitter 3.7%, and Coniston XB Premium Bluebird Bitter 4.2% 9.5/10 each
In other news, a German brewer, Schorschbrau, raised the stakes in the highest abv beer race, producing Schorschbock, which at 40% blows Brewdog's Tactical Nuclear Penguin out of the water.
In response, Brewdog unveiled Sink the Bismarck!, a 41% beast, that retails at ?40 for a 330ml bottle. It is meant to be drank in spirit measures.
On another note, I was browsing Beers of Europe's website, and saw Adnams Tally Ho! Uh? Never seen this one before. Over to you Plough Boy...
