      I laughed

They're striking over pay and conditions and you think RM paying other people to do their job with more relaxed conditions whilst they strike is the right route to go down ?

i don't but, if they carry on striking i'm not sure the public will be very happy especially if it's over Christmas(which would get the most impact) then they would have to think about it i would have thought.
even if the full time staff didn't like it they couldn't stop could they?
i'm only waiting for pgr4 everything else is junk mail so i'm not that bothered atm.

You obviously didn't see that dispatches documentary a few years back

AFAIK the only agency people used now are 7.5 tonne / truck drivers when the mail centres are caught short by sick absence etc. And the Xmas casuals I suppose. I think delivery offices aren't allowed to use agency / casuals any more because of the security risk.

ah i didn't know that, makes sense though.

read on another forum that royal mail are telling you to only take mail you can deliver in your contracted hours now and to leave everything else for another day as they don't want you to do overtime after the strike. you would think they would want the mail back to normal asap wouldn't you

They still do it, Manpower is an agency that do it. When I thought I was staying in Sheffield this summer I went for that but it was on hold because of the strike! They've toughened up the security though, I did it through an agency in 2004 and they were pretty much "can you start today??". That wouldn't happen now. It's crap doing it through an agency anyway, by the time they ring you it's already afternoon

I had the orange box shipped to me 2 days ago, how long will it take to get to me once it's in the country?

These strikes are an absolute joke to be honest, i know that there's problems for posties, but there's problems for a lot of people, they don't all strike continuously and cause delays for everything. It wasn't so bad when it was a day, but nearly 2 weeks? Rediculous.

There's really no telling how long it will take TBH. I'm not sure how much of the backlog we can clear before the rolling strikes resume next week. Even if we get up-to-date, the airports are on strike Monday and other parts of the network after that, so it will be at least a couple of days later.

I wonder if its worth canceling my PGR4 pre-order and just buying it locally. If its not been sent out yet I'm not optimistic of receiving it tomorrow.

I've got my induction for my casual position on Monday, this is gonna be an awkward start, I'm sure they'll advise us though

I dunno if this is a stupid question, but i have a delivery coming in early next week from Parcel Force. Are Parcel Force a part of Royal Mail? Does anyone think my delivery will be affected in any way?

Parcel Force aren't directed affected apparently although they have altered some services on strike days to cope with increased demand.
