re: the lord of the rings screening - is it the theatrical cuts or the extended editions?
Tried an extended editions marathon a few months ago and it wiped me out - thank **** we can pause dvds for toilet breaks, cooking food and sleeping
I dunno why but I can do marathon sessions watching boxsets of tv shows on dvd (for example I watched the entire 1st and 2nd series of The Wire over a 4 day period - which was about 12 hours of watching a day) but marathon watches at the cinema just take it out of me, remember watching Alien 1,2 and 3 all together at the cinema and I was absolutely knackered mid way through. Can just imagine how exhausting the LotR trilogy is going to be, especially on Imax.

And I managed that just fine.

Sorry to backtrack, but I love film marathons. The local Cinema does a Halloween one each year.
First I caught Romero's Dead Trilogy. Then a couple of years later it was Shaun of the Dead, Night Of the Dead, then Texas Chainsaw. I was the only one still awake at the end. >_<
Would love to catch the Alien Trilogy at one of these (forget Resurrection).

I went to a Star Wars marathon some years ago and hated every minute of it. In front of me I had the obligatory Total Film readers making snide comments all through the film, whilst behind me were the legions of fat, bearded manchildren who say every 'classic' line a handful of heartbeats before it was spoken on screen. I can only imagine the LOTR would be much worse - and far smellier.

They recently did the original 70mm Indiana Jones trilogy marathon at my local cinema. Unfortunately I missed it as I was on holiday, and as it turns out it was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity as the original 70mm prints are very hard to come by. Sucks, as they are my favourite films everest
