I also heard this:
Australian Officials on hunt for whale rider.
Word that a teenager climbed aboard a whale for a ride has sent Australian officials to the beach, to warn others not to try such a stunt.

Had the day off today and haven't done anything. Feel really restless and can't concentrate. I've tried playing games but can get into anything. I hate feeling like this.
On the plus side I have the date for my trip to Boston to visit Harmonix. Excited about that but not about the 7 hour flight.

I'm Bored!!
Stuck in hospital waiting for an operation tomorrow and won't get out 'till Weds at the earliest, been here since 2 and I've already had enough. Got my iPhone, PSP, a couple of books and my iPod but I'm mainly just imagining the nurses having lesbian sex.
Didn't bring any chargers in and the battery on this is down to about 80% at the moment. I don't have WIFI access here either.
I really don't like hospitals, can't see how sticking me in a building full of ill people can possibly make me any better.

I went for a job interview on Friday night and the woman rang me today to say they want me and she'll get in touch in the morning to discuss the salary. It's an HR admin position at a swanky hotel in Mayfair so will most likely be so-so but it looks ripe for a computerised update and we were discussing branching out into other things (she was interested in my experience in staff training as they're planning on modernising their training programme).
I have a feeling the pay won't be that much (but will be a bit more than I'm getting at the moment) but it has various perks(discount gym, rooms, etc), a strong internal promotion policy and other stuff.
I'm planning on doing a PGCE or similar next year as I really want to be a teacher (Physics, Maths or I.T.) but was too late to apply this year so it'll only really be a year or so I suspect, unless I find it so utterly compelling that I decide to stay. You never know!
Two problems, though:
1) I've never had success with jobs taken through family members or friends(in this case, my granddad's friends with the owner), specifically regarding pay, so I've been taken advantage of in the past. Part of me wants to just take it because I've a knack for turning boring/lame stuff into fun things and finding opportunities but I'm worried they might think me a pushover if I accept a lower wage. Also, the owner doesn't seem like those dodgy office bosses I've worked for before who'd ask me to fix their internet, etc, but we Indians cannot deny our money-saving genes. I got grilled by various family members over the weekend to not accept anything less than 18k seeing as I'm a graduate, but I don't see the relevance to this particular role as you don't need to be a graduate to do it. It'd be like demanding more for working at a till because I'm a graduate. Based on my hourly rate and complete lack of motivation at work now, causing me to come in late and leave early, as well as take days off as and when I feel like it, I bring in about ?500 a month which is peanuts.
2) The position may only be for 2-3 months as it's to fill in for the current admin woman who's ill. Based on their promotion policy, I imagine that will mean a different role rather than leaving the job. Plus, something tells me my conversational Japanese and Arabic will come in handy at a hotel! Still, if it goes awry I'll be stuck.
I graduated this year(Physics) but I only passed (thanks both to my lack of motivation to study and also working part-time throughout) so graduate training programmes are pretty much out and the part-timeness of my job so far means tangible achievements are thin on the ground.
Really, I'm thinking I'll most likely take it regardless because it'll be a change of environment and I have a strong feeling they'll find better things for me to do soon enough.
Also, if I make sure the role I'm contracted for is only admin, then I can simply refuse to do anything blatantly out of that spec or negotiate a new contract.
I'll probably take stick from family if the pay's not great but I'll have to just deal with it. This bloody car won't fix itself for free
