Anybody else ever noticed that Pac-Man's eyes are Pac-Men?

    Comment

Just deleted my Facebook account. It's a pretty big thing for me, as I do all sorts on there, I'm not one of those who signs up and does bugger-all. I saved all my photos and notes and other stuff, cos I write good.

Shame it's cloudy outside - nice weather could've been a nice metaphor

Quck! He's about to go outside! Someone get a TV Tropes link to get him to stay at the PC!

        STAT!

Never had a Facebook account, and never will. I do get irked when people look at you like you're some sort of retard when you tell them you don't use it though.

My facebook account exists but is empty. Keep getting pressured by my family to take it up. I went to great lengths to keep my identity off the web (having a common name makes that fairly easy), sadly other people's facebooks have kinda made that moot which pisses me off.

Mixing offline and online is bad news.

I didn't like it the first time I saw it. I walked into one of the Physics computer rooms at uni and saw all these people on this Facebook thing looking at photos of each other's faces. It looked like about 98% mug-shots. It's still like that now. I feel like killing people who photograph themselves using the bathroom mirror while still looking at their screens(as though looking at the camera lens will make their arm move).

What started the ball rolling was being joined in on a message thread and guess what? You can't leave a message thread at all once you're in. You have to just ignore it but the emails still come. FB does not provide the functionality to do it. I blocked all the people in the thread and still the messages came. Also, probably because I'm always fiddling with the privacy settings, somehow I've RSVP'd every event that my friends are going to. Even stuff I know I haven't been invited to by accident, and for each event I'm listed as attending, maybe AND not attending. And it's not even a visual bug because I get emails from those events too! Something's iffy with my account because I couldn't deactivate it (only straight deletion, although deletion does deactivate for two weeks to let you change your mind).

I joined it partly as a joke(a mate joined it and I challenged him to make 100 friends in a week and then I'd join. He did) and partly because of the control you had over your account. Thanks to them basically blowing that wide open, it's just got too much. It's a shame, because it was handy for displaying my Photoshops and other things I'd been up to (music stuff, YT vids, etc).

Totally agree about mixing online with offline. It's upsetting when someone who's cool in real life is a complete twat online. Often, people I thought had strong characters have statuses like "needs a hug" or whatever, and it drives me nuts.

@ abigsmurf: ABORT MISSION! Leaving FB doesn't mean I'm going outside or even leaving the PC. I just won't use FB anymore. Mates who wanna invite me to parties/whatever can text like in the good old days.

I was having a conversation about this earlier.

Like you, I keep my identity off the internet as much as possible, but I despise the fact that thanks to Facebook, there are probably pictures of me up there without my knowledge or consent.

I really, really have a big problem with that.

I was recently `forced` into making a personal Friendface account to keep in touch with family members who have moved far away.

In that respect it's great but it's piss boiling being subjected to the banal **** that flows out of some people... kind of like this post

You can stop others from tagging you by setting your privacy settings.

My sister in law lives on Facebook and regularly makes anouncements on there before telling her family. We had to explicitly tell her to keep pictures of our wedding off there, and again we had to tell her the same when Holly was born. Cretin.

                          I don't have a Facebook account.

I can't stop people putting pictures of me on there.

Are you sure? I was looking at FB's FAQ and it was saying you can't stop people tagging you as the photos are theirs and not yours, so you can only remove tags individually.

Learn how to use Facebook, fix a problem and get answers to your questions.

Tagging's one of the things you have to live with. I've been Bilal, Alan Partridge and, most recently, Shatner's Bassoon(which I took with me to my FB grave). It doesn't stop tagging but it helps with the mystery and it's a good mate filter as the people who really know you will know who you are regardless of your name.

Snooker, not liking this new format. Best of nine in the final? Best of five in the early rounds? It doesn't even feel like they've played a match.

You're wrong of course. It's awesome.
