How come there's hundreds of guests online?
Everytime I'm on here there's loads of guests, and unless they're staring blankly at the forum index, they're looking at threads. I can't do this. After about 10 thread views without being logged on, I got a lame message telling me to register to see more. Now I can't view any thread without being logged on.
Why is this a problem? Well, I sometimes want to smash and grab a particular thread without having to log on, as I'm checking from somewhere else (that I shouldn't be). I don't want to have to log on to read one thread, and have all other threads appear as 'read' the next time I log on. It's a pain in the arse. Just logging on wastes valuable seconds that can be the difference between a viewed thread and a bollocking. I also don't understand the rationale behind forcing people to join to see more. Loads of people - including myself - like to scour a place before joining to see if it's worth the effort. Otherwise there'll be a load of people joining and abandoning the place after they've had a look around as it's not for them, or not bothering to join in the first place because they've been forced to. I only joined this gaff after watching from a distance for a few days. I suppose the joining figures might prove me wrong, but it's the type of pressganging that would turn me off straight away.
But anyway, back to the original point. Unless this place has a massive turnover of guests fulfilling their feeble thread-view allotment quickly then pissing off forever, there always seems to be a decent number of guests online all the time. Presuming these are frequent unsigned lurkers, are these guys able to view without joining, using some kind of techno-witchcraft?
