40 is a pass, but does that count per essay or overall for the module? So if I have two essays for 50% of the overall mark each and I get top marks in one and zero in the other, would that pass the module at 50, or would I fail the module for failing one of the essays?

This essay I'm writing is really, really ****. I'd give me less than zero if only I could.
You have to pass all components of work, when I went was 40% = 3rd, 50% = 2.2, 60% = 2.1, 70%+ = 1st if you fail highest you can get on retry is 40% only know as I botched media ethics in year 2

Technically a "Pass" exists below a 3rd, which is basically a "Thanks for trying, we won't fail you to keep our scores high".

LIKE I GOT \o/ Laziness FTL.

My third year grades went between 13% and 55% so they passed me.

I failed both my 2nd and 3rd years at King's and the retake results weren't capped because I paid to take the classes+exams(2nd year) and exams only(3rd year) again the following year. Summer retakes were free but a) only offered if we only needed to pass a few modules to progress and b) were capped at 40%.

Weirdly, friends at QM who paid for retake years still had their results capped at 40%, which I thought was astounding. Maybe they were too dumb and got confused. They did have to retake the years, after all. Hang on...

I did Physics, though, and they were very lenient with us when it came to failure. There were entire pieces of coursework I just didn't do but still passed the relevant modules based on the other work.

I wouldn't want to outright say that passing one coursework with 100% and the other with 0% would mean 50% overall but that was the case for me so, as Flabio said, it depends on the uni.

        @krss: I got a pass, too YEAHHHH

'The Hoff' crab is new ocean find

            http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-16394430

UK scientists have found prodigious numbers of a new crab species on the Southern Ocean floor that they have dubbed "The Hoff" because of its hairy chest.
The animal was discovered living around volcanic vents off South Georgia.
Great piles of the crabs were seen to come together.
The creature has still to be formally classified, hence the humorous nickname that honours the often bare-chested US actor David Hasselhoff.

That's how it works for us, although for some modules the coursework 30% is divided up into various bits and you just need to get 40% overall, meaning you can fail some bits like I did (4/20 on a maths multiple choice test, woo!)

Today I was pick-pocketed. I don't know who or when as I'd have broken their hand otherwise, but I have a good idea it was when alighting the packed train here in Kuala Lumpur.

Lost ?100 xmas money and $50 Sing. dollar, as well as my arcade swipe card that had about $100 credit on it. Could have been worse I suppose - I actually feel that was good money to pay for a worthy lesson. I firmly believe whoever took it actually deserves the cash for pulling off the trick, digging deep into my pocket and taking a bulky wallet which normally takes some force for even me to remove.

That could have been $250 off of the $1,800 required for my laptop however.

No, I mean do you think of y-fronts, frilly knickers? What does the word 'undies' suggest to you?

White y-fronts with sagging elastic that are well past their useful days.

Undies makes me think of sexy knickers that you remove with your teeth.
