Near the end of the article it says that even using conversative estimates, each Second Life avatar creates about 1.17 tonnes of carbon emmissions per year, which is about the same as driving a couple of thousand miles in a large car. Imagine how frightening the numbers would be if the same calculations were run on Xbox Live and the whopping energy needs of your 360 and spangly new plasma telly. I should probably get a new hobby since this sort of thing concerns me greatly
