No, it's a very awkward case that I won't go into, but her parents just don't like me.

Samantha used to be a Jehova's Witness, and her parents are. Very, very strongly.

Sam left so she could be with me, and her parents still hold a grudge against me for it because they believe I made her do it,

I'm amazed they're even speaking to her now she's "disfellowshipped" - aren't they meant to do all that ritual shunning and pretend she doesn't exist?

For the last two weeks here it's been alternating between bright sunshine and heavy rain what seems like every half an hour. It's revenge from the weather gods for it being unusually hot in March and April!

Arrrgh ****ing anti smoking fascists scum. Im dreading 01/07. I wasnt that bothered but the nearer it creeps im rapidly changing my mind. The pricks at my work have already gone metalspastic with the no smoking signs and have now banned smoking outside! and dont get me started on pubs, wtf is wrong with this country? At least the the French had the good grace to ingnore there ban, how on earth am i going to kill non smokers now i cant kill them with my passivse smoke? I'll just have to throttle them with my bare hands i guess..

It'll be pretty easy as they will all be out in the smoking area along with most of the people in the pub. So then you can
A. continue to kill them with passive smoking.
B. Throttle them with your bare hands.
or
C. Burn them to death with the gass heaters outside

I sense a continuous pattern along the lines of it being sunny for 30 minutes followed by drizzly rain for 10 minutes before a few minutes downpour appears. And then it is sunny again, drizzle, downpour and so on.

I'm starting to dislike this weather now.

As for pubs, you'll find that all the smokers stand out in the street having a drink, fag and a laugh and the non-smokers are left inside looking like a bloke or girl does when they're together in a bar and the other half goes to the toilet.

Believe me, You may not think it now but everybody wins from the smoking thing - they get what they want and they get to reflect on the fact maybe they didn't really want it after all they just thought it sounded the righteous thing to do

Actually they don't, there's no legal requirement for them to do so.

Indeed. My office is banning it on its whole premises. If people want to smoke they're supposed to leave the grounds....

Yeah a couple of places have done that here, mostly the larger organisations like the NHS or some shopping parks.

That's a bit OTT in my humble opinion (even as a non-smoker) and there's certainly nothing in the law to say they have to go to that extreme. I've also seen it make a rod for their own back's because they struggle to move them on.

Still it's their property and they can do what they like etc etc. Just good luck to them trying to enforce it

Our smokers have been told they can't smoke within 10 metres of the front and back doors - as this is the main area non-smokers have to pass through.

Think there is something in the new law about not smoking directly outside doors due to passive smoke etc.
