Should they change the final set rule?

I don't think so, after all this would never have happened otherwise and it was a brilliant sporting moment.

It effectively ruined his chances of progressing though, which is harsh.

I don't think they'll change the ruling on the strength of it happening just the once though.

On the one hand, it wrecked his chances of progressing. On the other hand, he should have won it quicker! For the last 80-90 games he didn't even look like he was making an effort on Mahut's serve, he was just waiting for him to make mistakes. Obviously for many of those games he physically couldn't make an effort though!

He's now been involved in the longest and the shortest men's singles match at Wimbledon this year.

They've pulled out of the doubles... because Isner has a toe injury!

            Poor bloke.

Ok so he has had an unsuccessful tournament but his name is written in Tennis history. I would settle for that.

Fed is Out!! Murray one set down...(not followed Wimbledon as I usually do because of the WC - I am a tennis fan, just feels a bit second best to the WC)

Anyway...may I ask what the Isner match went up to?..

                70-68.

Murray's a break up in the second now, hopefully he'll settle down and move on. Then bring on Rafa!

Wimbledon is also second to the WC for me, but the WC is finished now so I'm all about the tennis.

EDIT: I clearly spoke to soon, the break is gone.

And now he's cruising in this set. Yay!

                      Snap!

I have to say, he's doing really well so far this championship without really hitting anything close to top form consistently. Let's hope he's saving his absolute best for Friday and Sunday. Come on the Murray!

The two dourest men in tennis collide today, like reading the collected speeches of G. Brown on a wet weekend in Whitley Bay.

                          Terrific scenes.

Rather good players though. I suppose it depends if you watch tennis for the standard of play or for the personalities.

I like both. But there are few characters in the game, and the game in general seems single-track.

I find baseliners too dominant in today's game. Since they changed the balls (?) and serve/volley went (which was equally boring when everyone played it), there's just been endless rallies. Which is ok in doses, but i really miss players rushing into the net to play deft volleys. Edberg and Becker leaping around the net, hyper-agile, like cats, is something you don't really see now, which is a shame. I'd like a balance.

There are also very few personalities. McEnroe, Connors, Cash, Agassi, Rafter, Ivanisevic, Becker, etc., great characters. Now so many players are just all hyper-focused Sampras-lites.

This Djokavic fella is as charismatic as a wart on the cock.

I'd be wearing my Anyone But Murray T-Shirt at Wimledon today if I had one.
