    completely stripped down?

Still, hard to imagine the insurers not paying up at least.

I've seen a lot of stupid add-ons in my time but this one is worth sharing. Is this not the stupidest idea for making a car look better?

Couldn't help but laugh -- 900 quid for that?!

Bad news on the Merc, he must be gutted.

        Sadat: another classic ruined.

What? Removing the springs from the rears?

People don't just do it to sheds either - see attached.

What's the insurance like on Golfs anyway? imagine it'd be insane with the number of boy racers drawn to them.

He's selling it to get a van -- you can only imagine what that'll look like

My mate had a fairly rare mk1 Jetta years ago and ran about with the springs removed for a wee while. It was seriously uncomfortable it just ran on the bump stops all the time! Crazy.

Some people just have no taste. that looks F*ing awful. That Evo X doesn't look much better either. What is it with guys in the UK painting their cars bloody stupid colours?

If you are a bit squeamish about animals getting hurt accidentally, don't watch:

Rally car flips horse. It's not funny, but one of the comments made me laugh: "that horse has MAD pop. Nollie Laser Flip!"

like with any other car it depends on age/experience/points/convictions..

Myself I pay less on my Golf G60 than I do on my Seat Leon Cupra, now although the Leon Cupra looks more grown up plus its a 5 door, its a very powerful car and is in the same insurance group.. so you'd imagine it would be cheaper.. my G60 has all modifications declared too..

there's not much difference between the 2 of them though, but I do have 10+ years ncb, no accidents or claims and no convictions.. plus I hold a Class 1 HGV licence too [not sure if that goes against me though]

I would imagine insuring a Mk2 GTI would be cheaper than Citroen Paxo VTR/VTS..

BTW how dare you say boy racers are drawn to GTI's.... you dont see em Max Power with crazy bodykits, whale tails and flourescent paint!

                        oh and i'm 33..

I may be joining the ranks of BMW owners, even if it could be a bit too brief for now at least, as I've just been handed my dad's late-2000 (X-reg) 520i:

It's our old family car, bought about five years ago (just before I got my license so I wasn't allowed to get insured on it!), which has pretty much been run into the ground by the demons (parents). Probably run into the ground. I wouldn't know, as I've only driven it twice, and one of those involved reversing it into the telephone post opposite my house (cost me ?250 )

My dad gave it to me last week as they've got a new Mazda3 thingy now to play with. The idea was I'd just sell the car in its current state (they reckon it's worth up to a grand or so, I haven't really checked) and use the money I get from it to buy my own car. Of course, I have other plans - namely fixing and then claiming it for myself until one of the following happens:

                          a) I go bankrupt trying to keep it running
                          b) I wrap it around a telephone post properly
                          c) I quit while I'm ahead and sell it on to buy something a bit more suited to my driving abilities, but in a better condition than it is right now.

I took it for a very quick spin on Sunday for about five minutes to see if I could spot anything abnormal and the check engine light is on, also there was a bit of a burny smell, and there's a little crack in the coolant expansion tank that needs to be sealed (I'll most likely just buy a replacement tank, they're only ?20 or so). I've also bought one of those cheapy OBD2 usb thingies off eBay to see if it'll give me any useful info on the car before I consider driving it any meaningful distance (i.e. to the nearest BMW mechanic!).

The last four nights I've had only BMW dreams, so I'm taking it as a good sign. They all involved me driving rather well (including rallying it in the mud to my mate's farm) which, apparently, implies I'm in control of my life. I also recently had a dream I was doing doughnuts in a school gym in the Batmobile (Tim Burton one).

                            Wish I had your dreams.

On the way home today in the dark, after picking up the kids from the nursery, I see a cluster of lights pull out of traffic pull out of the oncoming traffic. Motorbike.

The oncoming traffic hasn't reached me yet and he's a 2 cars back. I can cleary see he only has time to take one of them, but he's too far over and is quite literally in the middle of my lane, accelerating hard, but not hard enough and wasn't bothering to pull back in. It only took me a split second to realise he was going for both cars and I slammed the anchors on, down from 40 to zero pretty much instantly (thank you GSD3s!). This left him JUST enough gap to squeeze through. Luckily the van behind me was keeping a good distance and managed to stop too without hitting me - it must have been fairly exciting for the van driver seeing something stop that quickly in front of him

If I hadn't been paying attention he would have been toast. What a complete retard. Actually if it had been someone else paying attention, but without the same level of understanding (i.e. owning a bike for years), he probably would have been toast too. I recognised the bike - I'd seen him previously and thought all the gear no idea. I hope he wises up after that episode. I'm pretty sure he'll have soiled leather to clean tonight.

Closest I've ever come to killing anyone on the road.

Bikers in Japan are always doing stupid **** like that. Personally I can't stand them. Noisy in the way wankers. No offence to genuine good bikers out there but the ones I see every day on the way to and from work deserve to be knocked down. Then they may understand what idiots they are and that cars are not there as dodging toys for them.

We're told we have to treat bikes like cars yet how can we when they're always acting like bikes? Out of all my bike-owning friends, none of them have one because they like bikes, they've bought them for weaving through traffic.
