Ta for the link. Don't think I'll be tethering mine seeing as I can't get 3G at home or work.

The prices that O2 are charging are a joke!
Prices at todays exchange rate:
16GB: $199 = £125, expected to pay £150 not £185
32GB: $299 = £185, expect to pay £200 not £275
Think I'll forget about upgrading, unless they give a much better deal come August!!Last edited by KIT786; 08-06-2009, 22:16.

Get iphone to mass market appeal, then strangle customers with massive upgrade costs vs little gains. No matter the battering the market took, customers for home or portable entertainment never really thought twice about spending - but between this and Sony's PSPGO's pricing one has to wonder; What ARE they smoking?

As I've never had one I quite fancied just getting a pay-as-you-go iphone (I just don't use the phone enough to warrant a tariff at £30 a month) and the (so called) cheaper pricing seemed great. Excuse me! What great pricing? Even if I want a old 8gb 3G it'll still cost me £342 from O2. That's no different from what it was before!. As for £538 for the new 32bg 3GS they can just * off.

It's going to be interesting to see how, if at all, this affects the App Store. The new iPhone has features and power that previous versions didn't have so there could be Apps that use those that won't work on the older iPhones or iPod Touch. And that they haven't yet upgraded the Touch and that they're pricing the new iPhone so high seems to suggest they have no problem creating such a split.
But developers will have to take into account that if they use the new power or features, they'll be cutting revenue from a massive amount of Touch and older iPhone users.
And, no doubt, there will be people buying Apps they think will do certain things but won't due to their model so that's an increase in customer service issues.
Maybe they'll split the App Store completely based on what model you have.
