Aren't we free to go and work in other EU memeber states? How many British people live in the Spanish Costa's? I'm sure local people get annoyed by all the old fogeys and cockney geezers, who live in their British ghetto's insisting on speaking only English, drinking in 'British' pubs and rejecting 'all that foreign muck', whilst increasing local house prices and bringing down the tone of the place to that of Chatham-on-sea.

Indeed we are- I've done it myself. Yeah, it's funny a lot of folk who moan about immigration are exactly the sort of people* who think nothing of buggering off to live in Spain, turning the place into a ****ty British enclave and then piss and moan when the exchange rate goes to hell and they can't survive over there on their UK pensions anymore.

edit- *and people who moan about the UK going to the dogs because of immigration and insist they're going to leave and move to some other country (Holland, weirdly, is mentioned a lot, it being seen as some kind of liberal utopia)... and then they just stay here and continue to moan. Excellent! (that's not aimed at anyone on here btw)

We are free in theory but if we moved overseas in the numbers of Polish workers, the countries would quickly put a cap on the numbers. Although emigration has increased in recent years, the fact is that most Brits want to stay here.

I really didn't want to watch QT, I knew the chances of any good coming of it were slim. Unless an audience and panel were involved who could respectfully pick apart the things he had to say - be it historical inaccuracies, logical flaws, factual errors, or whatever - in a sensible and calm manner, I knew it would turn into a rowdy colosseum, which could victimise Griffin and make him appear the subject of the free speech police.

Unfortunately the missus wanted to watch it so I had to endure exactly what it was. He didn't come across for one second as credible or honest, but the behaviour of the audience/panel made the entire event annoying to watch and not enlightening in the slightest. Anyone can shout down a chump, the real victory would be in taking apart the lies of his party one by one in a deferential manner.

I live in Nth London and since being redundant have to sign on at the job centre to get my insurance forms filled in. Its been a huge eye opener and has turned me from being incredibly moderate (when I was happily removed from reality in the City) to realising the scale of the immigration problem on my own doorstep and realising something needs to be done.

I have no issue with people who come here to work, do a job, pay taxes and do their bit for society in general. Seeing the crowd at the job centre though who by no means all come from the EU, speak no English at all (you see phones being passed for translations to be done on the fly by a friend/relative) you wonder what they will ever add and should we be so welcoming in our policies ?
I'm sensible enough to seperate what I see from thinking a vote for the BNP is a good idea, many aren't.

With no irony I had a row with a greek guy at the gym who wanted to send all the foreigners home yesterday. This guy is giving money to the BNP, that is how mental and screwed up the situation is becomming.

And that's what's now happened here. The government grossly underestimated the numbers of Poles and Czechs who might come here so now they've capped the numbers of Bulgarians and Romanians who can.

How did the government manage to underestimate it so much? Without wishing to sound patronising, these were formerly Communist countries- did it not occur to them that lots of people might want to come and see for themselves the decadent capitalist West it had previously been impossible to visit? Jesus...

London's always been an exception though- a large part of its fundamental make-up is built on ethnic diversity. London wouldn't be the amazing city it is without immigration.

Read the guardian report of it (ok not the most unbiased source for the subject matter). Sounded like a shouting match with endless jeering inane "I'm an ethnic minority, do you hate me?" type audience comments that do nothing to address his policies and endless personal attacks.

Tacky crap. Question Time is supposed to be about well argued debate. Let him discredit himself, don't make him the underdog 'champion of the ignored working class'. Just endlessly calling him a racist and holocaust denier does nothing but continue the status quo. Whilst the attacks are on him and not his policies, he will continue to gain support from people who feel he's addressing things other parties are too scared to.

His party is incompetent and the policies deeply flawed. That is what should take centre stage.

Do you mean the Celts Nick? those are the purest you will find on these lands. They would have been more widespread if the Church and the crown (foreign blood by the way Nick) did not march on them and try and destroy their belief system, art and ancient knowledge.

Romans, Vikings, House of Orange, Winsdors, Prince Edward Man there is so much 'foreign' blood flowing through most peoples veins they do not even know it.

I think if the black playwrite was given enough time she could have made Nick look like a idiot. She managed to tear his indiginous argument apart with the comment about the Romans and the bloodline of Winston Churchill.

I think people should be able to say whatever they like on whatever medium, as long as there are people ready to rip their arguments down with intelligent facts and debate.

Good luck to us if their ratings have improved after that, if the Media are trying to make him credible using particular soundbites then it should prove to you that our media is controlled by the hidden hand, who are using the BNP to divide.

couldn't agree more, and I love the place for it. The door is too far open though, ethnic diversity is a bit of a blanket that gets used to excuse everything regarding immigration.

I see things with my own eyes that I know aren't adding anything to the Borough I live in other than tax burden. thats not a good thing.

Jack Straw was disastrous on that show. Which is saying something, as Question Time is politics for entertainment. He appeared to be nervy and panicked. Why?

I think it might be that he is unable to engage with people outside the main political system. Nick Griffin said on a number of occasions that he had ?changed his mind? on fundamental points, many of which shaped areas of BNP policy. Politicians rarely, if ever publicly do that, let alone in the context of a debate show. Straw was unduly phased by the presence of one person who stepped out of line and that would speak the politically unspeakable. That is poor.

All they needed to do was let Nick Griffin talk ? he shot himself in the foot so many times, but was let off (as has been mentioned earlier) by the baying crowd and panel members jumping down his throat ? effectively coming to his rescue.

When I saw Question Time USA a few years back when they had Michael Moore on. It was a jeering match with one side booing the others and endless personal attacks. I thought to myself "thank god we don't sink that though". Sadly I think we sunk far lower last night.

The fact of the matter is, this country is screwed right across the board from crime, to social issues, to the economy, education and complete lack of industry. It's a complete toss hole, a third rate european country.

The three main parties have over seen this for decades while lining their own pockets. Since the end of WW2 its been a steady nose dive into oblivion. The only alternatives are don't vote or vote for a fringe party such as the BNP(who may be awful or not)

Country is still in the crapper. Seems Gordon Brown's 'financial genius' skills have resulted us being hurt harder than anyone else. This round of printing mon...'quantitative easing' has come to an end and we're still not recovering. If another round happens, it'll seriously devalue the pound

Most people blame Tony's labour govement for the state of the nation. Tony now stands for the EU, BNP totally reject the EU = more 'misguided' BNP votes.

As for the hidden hand different people think different things I guess. So much disinformation mixed with real you could get lost. Some people think the world is getting along nicely on its own, I happen to take the view it is being lead down a very dark path.

Thats for another topic though, if you have interest or argument against we could start one?

EDIT: On and why else would the media try and make him sound Credible if not to serve a purpose? if a purpose who's purpose and to what end? There are enough soundbites to make him sound like a fool but they chose to make him sound credible. What does that say to you?
