Originally posted by Jebus View PostThirty seconds? Damn, gonna have to re-do my ringtones then!
I used to have it on my phone before, but as it was a work phone I started to hate the song because hearing it ring always meant work to do! So I removed it, but this new phone is all mine so it can go back on there.
Now I just need to search a sea of apps for Twitter and I'm set.
Does anyone here use MobileMe? I'm intrigued, but not terribly enticed by the price.

First 29 seconds of "The End" by The Beatles and opening 27 seconds of "Dr Yang" by Ben Folds are my current two, but gonna do some more soon!
I'm after a twitter app as well, I'm confused as to why they aren't free apps since twitter itself is free and you could just use the web browser for free if you so wanted!

Originally posted by AllYourBase View PostThere are some free Twitter apps, but I would heartily recommend Tweetie 2, for ?1.79 it's a real bargain. Check out the user ratings for yourself to learn of the universal love it receives
Also, does anyone have guidelines for CD cover art? I download what I can from the store, but when I can't I'm never quite sure what size I should be going for? At what point is the quality too good, to the point that the size of the file will be a problem?
For example, I've just applied a 1MB 2658*2700 cover image for The Beatles Anthology 2. And I'm pretty sure that's ridiculous overkill.

Would be cool if that's the case. Not sure where you can confirm the sizes of the art on the phone as they didn't see fit to make it glaringly obvious.
Also, just found this Flickr group for iPhone wallpaper.
Now sporting this:

As you may know I have a nokia 5800 but want a iphone after renewal (a while away yet) but reading this thread has got me thinking and has brought some things to light that I wasn't aware of before.
What's the extent of the lack of multi-tasking? On my phone I generally run a twitter app, a google chat app, the podcasting thing and the music player all the time. I can keep them all live and switch between them all however and whenever I like. If I'm listening to music the in-line remote controls the songs/volume without having to have the player open. Can all that be done on the standard iphone or would I have to jailbrake it just to do what I consider normal?
Another question, am I right in thinking you can't just drag and drop files across to the phone? On mine you can just add any mp3's etc and then use them as ringtones. Or even use the memory as mass storage if the file is totally unusable by the phone, can the iphone do that?

I am pretty sure that it doesn't allow easy push of data as a mass storage device. This is one of the factors for me not getting one. Though I am not sure I can find an equivalent that is better... currently.

*Music while using all other apps, yes. yes to the inline remote too for music.
*Multitasking, no. You effectively close the app completely when you exit it. though it does now handle push notifications for your emails, and facebook i believe.
*Drag and drop files, big fat no, unless you jailbreak it its a very closed system, so thats a no for mass storage too.
*Songs as ringtones, no. You have to convert a song in iTunes to a specific format and a 30 second clip and place it in the ringtone section.
My suggestion would be stick with what you got if its stable and works for you, or something like the HTC Hero, which ive had a play with recently is really bloody close to the iphone in almost all respects, only its pretty much does everything you listed you want, plus most the stuff iphone does too. The screen and UI are brilliant. Even got my iphone headphones to work on it to answer calls and talk, start and pause music as well as other bits. It multitasks quite well too and with the new software update is very smooth.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 09-11-2009, 09:23.
