So looks if you just want a "cheap" way to get a iPhone and you're a fairly low user minutes and text wise Tesco does work out cheaper.

ie. £462 in total for a 8GB 3G one on a 12 month contract or £560 for the 16GB 3GS one again on a 12 month contract. After the initial twelve months you can go with whatever network/plan you want. I assume.

    Cheapest way to get one on 02 is £626 for a 8GB 3G one over 18 months or £909 for a 16GB 3GS one over 24 months.

Perhaps they're aiming for the parents buying for their kids market, thinking that others would have bought one by now if they were that keen to have one.

Bugger this. Cheapest way is to grab one broken and second hand. Take it to the apple store and get them to replace it. My 3g cost me £160 6 months after it was released that way :P

o2 simplicity contract. bish bash boosh... cheapest iphone ever :P

Do you iPhone people find you've got into a terrible habit of fiddling with your iPhone?

I've a couple of friends who have them and they seem to fiddle with them aaaaall the time, no matter where they are.

Same for Blackberry owning friends. One mate went on a walk with us in the Lake District with beautiful scenery, but spent the whole time checking which medals we'd won at the Olympics!

I'm currently debating whether to get a 3GS or just get a touch and keep my existing phone.

I just can't justify the extra £210 for the phone functions. I'm not a heavy texter or caller, I wouldn't get the money's worth from a contract.

Same boat here, very light user calls and text wise so it would just be for the 3G connection really which is a bit hard to justify, especially with having a Touch and wireless internet at home.

Oh yes. Very guilty of that. Most of my battery is spent browsing these very forums on the bus!

My mate, Ben, is worse: constantly messing about with Facebook or whatnot.

My 18 month contract expires Wednesday. Going into Carphone Warehouse (much more helpful than O2 shop) to upgrade. Been told I can get a 16G 3G for free!

I've been told not to get the 3GS, are they much different?

I'm rather guilty of this but it's still a "new" toy to me having had it just over a month.

I literally can't stop fiddling with it, but that's because it's like having a computer in your pocket! I'm either playing a game, browsing stores, shopping, or surfing the net on it from the sofa!

Just got my PAC code from O2 so it's off to the Vodafone store for me tomorrow.

Think I'm going for a ?30 per month 30 day sim only contract.

I guess the only thing I won't get is visual voicemail, but hopefully that will come when Vodafone go official with iPhone in January.

****. I reset all my PC so therefore deleting any iTunes profiles etc. I still have the music so no big deal but when I plug my iPhone back in to the PC, what will happen? It wont delete everything off it and try sync with the blank profile or anything will it?

Yeh it will but you can recover it. Actually IGN had an article about this in their gear section a few days ago and it's the exact same process I went through a few months back to recover music off mine.

Id check that out first and google around. It involves selecting manual synch only and saying no to that erase/synch pop up when prompted.

I've got a Tesco (O2) iphone now. been putting some apps on it.

Two questions: can you get headphones with track skipping options? It's irritating having to get the phone out, unlock, look at it then skip through tracks.

Other question: is it possible to disable using headphones for phonecalls without putting everything through the speakers?

                          Comment

If you got the headphones that came with it... with the inline mic... they have track skipping ability. Press once to pause/again to stop, press twice to skip to next track, and three times to re-start the current track.

Ooh, shiny. Didn't even know there was a middle click for the headphone controls.

I think you can use the click to answer/hang up calls as well. But I'm not one of these folks that walks around the supermarket with their handsfree on, so wouldn't know
