Nasty. I got into a little bit of credit card debt in my early 20's (only about 3K but it was up to my limit at the time).
Ironically the fact that banks were chucking credit at people like loons actually helped me, wasn't too hard back then to get a 0% card to transfer the balance to and I paid it off as sharpish as possible.
I've paid off the CC in full every month since then, lesson learned!

There is a coating you can buy at any DIY store that prevents and kills mould on any area, the one I have is designed for driveways / outside walls etc but as it got so bad I have used it inside my house. Once you have peeled back your wallpaper or taken off your paint etc you must coat with the mould preventer/killer and let to dry for 24hours before you do anything. Mine is going to take a bit longer as the wall needs to dry. Then there is a filler/paint that you can put onto your wall before painting or wallpapering over.
Apparently a humidifier is good for seeping the water out of the walls and keeps rooms warmer.
Hope that kind of helps.

If it's a rented place get the landlord onto it asap.

The frame should have been seeled with mastic/silicone, if this was done poorly then water may have got in behind the seal and seep into the wood. Wehn it expands/shinks it will move and allow more water in next time.

Selling property. An 'interested' purchaser put an offer in a week or so back, we managed to find a very good property within the week and got an offer accepted too.
Everything was going well but now they wont answer calls or respond to the agent's requests for solicitors details so we can proceed. To make it worse the property I wanted is a repossession and thusly has a time limit to get the transaction sorted.
Thoroughly pissed off, ruined my evening.
