You just need to synergise and rebaseline your blue sky paradigms!

Going forward you need to do your best to be a real game changer.

Apparently I've been slow to align with the paradigm shift in the core demographic at the heart of the retail marketplace. Time for me to get my head in the game- I hear that you need to be a driver and a team player that strives to inspire others to achieve their targets, which will boost the projections for company incentives. There's no place in the corporate family for well-poisoners, after all.

I hope you will give 110% now!

            Well-poisoners? I like that.

Glad to bring something to the table.

My home area looking too similar everywhere.

Recently moved house to an area that is quite big and every housing estate looks the same, up until the past weekend I had driven everywhere I needed to go, though Saturday I had to get the train to a different town for a night at the pub, all fine getting to the station and getting there, though when I got the train back it all went wrong.

I was maybe a bit hammered but first I came out the station and started walking home in the complete wrong direction for about 10 minutes, then turned back and thought what was my housing estate, so walked into it only to find I'd taken a turn way too early, after about 15 minutes of walking down and around unable to find my house I wound up just standing near a lake i'd never seen thinking where the frak am I, I ended up using my phone GPS for the first time which took awhile to figure out and then used it to guide me home, all in all a 10-15 walk home took about an hour.

Felt like a real doofus but the area at night just seemed alien to me.

Maybe you just live in one of those randomly-generated areas I read about on the backs of game boxes?

Just blew my nose too hard and now it is heavily bleeding. Now I can't go to bed and I am very tired.

                              My job. Again.

                              Geek rant.

I got chewed out for not fully following a spec which is fair enough, I wasn't referring to it enough. However they also had a go on visual aspects.

1: This was a QA version designed to be critiqued.

2: I'm a developer, not a designer. I've the artistic talent of a dead rat.

3: their 'specs'? Screen shots put together in MS Word. By someone who isn't a coder (I've had to do horrible horrible things with iframes and javascript because they have no idea how forms work in server side languages).

4: I did really really try to get everything done beautifully in style sheets for a while so that keeping everything consistent would require little effort. Then the demands for insane levels of positioning, demands for screens which should be very similar, to look different. Endless demands for things that are utterly horrible from a web design perspective (arranging it so you have a sentence that has to be on a single line, followed closely by a variety of form elements, all to fit tightly into a limited space with no wrapping at all. Great... until you realise text sizes and form elements vary wildly from computer to computer so doing that is near impossible).

Bascially, what started off as a beautiful stylesheet driven system, is now a horrible mix of nested tables and inline styling.

5: Endlessly promising things to clients without even consulting me and ignoring me when I point out how horrible these things are to implement.

One thing they've just added on to the dev schedule: allowing users to upload files of any type to their user profile. For one thing secure file storage is incredibly difficult and requires an infrastructure we just don't have (not to mention, frankly, I've no idea how to do it). However most importantly our system allows clients to let users self register. Self registration + unmoderated, unrestricted file uploads is a recipe for waking up to find your server filled to capacity with child porn.

6: We want to sell this to clients within a month. There's a month's worth of new features lined up that 'have' to be implemented by then. Testing? being done by 2 non-technical people who will give things a run through once or twice. That's the level of testing being done.

I'm getting an 'assistant' coder. I suspect a large motivation for it is to go around me or get him to undermine me whenever I say something shouldn't be done or is a nightmare to implement.

They even had the nerve to guilt trip me about my wages. That isn't on. The company may be struggling but they're all driving sports cars and luxury estates, I'm driving an 8 year old Skoda with one of the windows being held up only by pieces of wedged in cardboard. I haven't had a payrise in 3 years and my salary was very low even back then.

Time to look elsewhere and let them chowbell. Once you have been crossed, that's once enough in my book.
