I find that 'Quick Apply' and applying through recruitment websites doesn't work. At all.

When I search for jobs I grab a HR email address out of the description and send out my own email and attachments that are all in the form of a standard template I can blast out, it's more personal that way. I usually send out about 50 applications a day using that method and always get a reply from at least two or three.

This isn't a little irk but: how f****d the world and people are, although it's always been this way I guess.

Had to pop off to a shop that's open all night because I needed something and couldn't get to sleep. There was a VERY old lady in the shop, she was talking to the shopkeepers. I asked what she was doing out so late and apparently she needed to buy some gas/put credit on the card she uses. She was asking the shopkeepers to give her credit and she would pay them back, but they refused saying they couldn't do that.

Apparently they have given her credit before and she has paid them back at times, but the problem is her son who takes all her pension and blows it on gambling and crack and/or heroin. She lpast 90 but was physically fit so she was probably in her 60s or 70s but from her face she could pass for a hundred.

I tried to help her out although I should have done a bit more, but when I got home I couldn't help thinking about her and her situation. This isn't the most messed up thing I've witnessed recently but if I keep thinking about it it will drive me mad.

Mariah Carey has named one of her children after the name of the building she lives in. The child, who is a real person and has to live with this name, is called "Moroccan."

Lovely day, lots to do and I'm sat in waiting for a parcel that will inevitably either arrive at the end of the day crushing my chances of doing the other bits I need to do. Or wont arrive at all today leaving me proper dodded for at least 1 week

I went to the docs today. A slightly chavy looking couple in their early 30's walked in with their baby in a pram. They sat down, pushed the pram to 1 side. The 'mother' of the baby sat there texting, while the 'father' sat there playing games with full volume on his I-Phone. Neither of them said or did anything for about 10 mins other than play with their phones.

Now what irked me the most is that they had their phones on, despite the signs & surgery tv telling ppl to have them turned off. What made it worse was that they were so engrossed that they didnt care about other ppl or the rules, & seemed to be glued to them. And the fact that htey didnt seem to give a stuff about the baby, who they'd created & was the reason why they were in there in the 1st place.

People just dont seem to give a ****e about rules & laws anymore.

At that moment I just wished that I could have disappeared to a remote place on my own away from all these ignorant selfish rude ppl

OFSTED deciding that they are going to pay us a visit next week, thereby destroying my plans for the weekend. Nicht so gut.

Good luck for the Big O. Massive pain in the next, hope it goes well. This time next week it will all be over!

I saw something similar on the train the other day, where a relatively young mother was engrossed in whatever her iPhone was doing, while her child had to eventually lean over into her line of vision to get her attention. She just carried on. By the time she got to her stop she half-heartedly dressed the child in her coat and shuffled off, still looking at her phone and apparently unaware of the fact that her child's coat was only half-on. Poor kid. She'd be better off being adopted by a non-scummy family before she learns how to figure out how to use mummy's phone and eventually becomes her.

                        Not seeming to know anything.

I've dipped back into wanting to be a teacher again like last year, although at that time I was too late to apply for a 2010 start and then got this I.T. job I've had since November. The idea of teaching is seriously eating at me now. I did Physics BSc at King's and got a pass by basically just doing the exams. I did very well with my dissertation but in terms of wtf a dark matter is, I'm pretty clueless. So I'm looking at possible subjects to teach at secondary school and it's down to Maths, Physics and I.T.

Maths I could probably manage but I don't care much for toruses and things like that but could probably wing it initially while I brush up. Physics is probably out unless it's pre-year 10 stuff(ironically, the stuff they usually tell you to disregard when you study it further) and as for I.T, despite having been using the things all my life, I'd have to brush up on my Access/Excel/whatever and I don't program at all.

As for a reference, it'd have to be my tutor from uni up until last year but I wonder if it would be enough. Then there's the fact that I just don't like studying, really. Having said that, if it's something I enjoy then I usually excel at it but if it's something I don't then I'm not one of those types who can just grin and bear it and get through, I'll likely just give up.

But the children! I'm probably being a nob and should just apply and see what happens, but I'm umming and ahhing again

Speaking of children (I could totally be a news anchor), my irk is my two little angels going to bed and two little monsters waking up at five in the morning.

Could be worse - it could be two little monsters going to bed and two little monsters waking up.

                              That's true.

I do find my love for my children increases the longer they've been asleep.
