Idiots. Tell them it's best to try and be as succinct as possible, and that's why you're using words that maybe they don't understand. The onus is on them to learn the meanings of words in the English language, not on you to dumb down your speech to a child's level for their benefit.

As for having 'better things to do with their time' - how long does it take to look up a word?

Infuriating. I'm sitting here infuriated on your behalf.

You should start talking like Joey in Friends when he wrote that letter for Monica and Chandler's adoption thing.

Ironically, if they improved their vocabulary they would save time in general by being able to communicate more concisely. Why use 4 words when 1 will do the job?

For once I'm going to add an irk to this thread:
Went to Cex in Woking with a list of 5 things I wanted that they had in stock according to the web. Turns out they only actually had 1 of the items I wanted, whats the point of having a website showing stock levels when it's only right 20% of the time?

I was in CeX Woking the other day. Woo!

Have to say I agree. Went to the Kingston one to get BlazBlue CS for ?8 on PS3, 1-3 in stock, and there was none. Ended up buying it for ?20 in HMV. Damn..

Kate's coat of arms includes a tied ribbon, showing she is an unmarried woman, and features three acorn sprigs, representing each of the Middleton children. At its centre is a gold inverted "V" reflecting Kate's mother Carole's maiden name of Goldsmith and white chevronels, symbolising mountains, representing the family's love of the Lake District and skiing
              Oh **** off.

Kate's coat of arms includes a bunch of random crap to represent that's she's a prat.

Bought a PC game to find no manual with serial number - auction stated ?complete.?

Bought the same game again and this time there is a manual but the previous owner has rubbed the serial number off.

                ...

Elision will see to that instead. Djagetme? Excellent. Why bother learning a language when you can blurt out phrases in a patois designed to disguise your shortcomings?

In a similar vein: people who use the phrase "oh my days". Bullet. Through. The. Head.

                      Did she design it herself?

My guess is her father had it made so they can use it as a trademark on Middleton goods they'll be trotting out over the years.

I'm confused. Did she do something naughty I haven't heard about yet? So far all I can find is that she dresses rather well.

I'd like to add mine to this. Went to look at some shoes on a webpage yesterday. 1 pair was down from ?70 to ?20. I was very tempted, but decided how I felt about buying them later in the day. Went back later to buy. they were still there in my size, & still listed as ?20, so I knew it was meant to be. Put them in my basket to go and pay, & they came up at their original price of ?70!!

My other irk: farmers finding another excuse for the mass slaughter of badgers

I had the misfortune of watching broadcast tv (bbc 1) for the first time this year tonight... ****in' 'ell. It was bad enough before but damn.

Insipid disingenuous DIY show, Ninety second dumbed down news flash, shoddy sitcom then a painfully constructed Masterchef episode. If they had topped it off with the abhorrent fake scripted banter of Top Gear I would have offed myself.
