    Oooh driving rants.

People who use roundabouts to overtake (ie the use the right lane and pull in front of you). There are multiple reasons why this is stupidly dangerous but ultimately, it's just a dick move.

People who speed up short motorway exits just to overtake, swerve in front of you, then brake heavily. Again, stupid, dangerous, dickish.

People who don't slow down at all for roundabouts, especially smallish roundabouts. You may be able to see the roundabout's clear ahead of you, but people about to pull out in other exits may not have as clear of a view and if you're travelling too fast, they may not see you in time. Roundabouts are a hazard, you may not have to stop but you do have to approach cautiously.

Yeah... These all refer to the same stretch of road I drive every day.

Grape was a nasty surprise when I bought a huge bag of Skittles in Canada.

I have a DS Lite (which I have had for over 3 years) and kept it in a 'snap in' style plastic case for protection. I decided today to remove it, and suddenly a crack has appeared on the lest hand side of the DS Lite hinge.

The T in the park line up being mainly rubbish this year (again). Ah well, I'll just have to focus on three days of drinking in-between the decent acts.

A related irk as a pedestrian is when people don't indicate before turning down the round you're trying to cross, but it's worse when they turn down, see you're waiting to cross, and then start to indicate.

When there's lots of cars going past, I kinda want to be able to assume that people that aren't indicating aren't going to turn down, so I can cross (it's marked crossing point, with the stubbly paving slabs and that, but no zebra markings or anything).

Takes sodding ages to cross the Tesco access road on the walk up to work because of that.

Drivers like this dont seem to realise that indicators are there for pedestrians aswell as other cars. I just cant believe the amount of car drivers I see that dont indicate at 1 of the roundabouts on my way home from work. Roughly 2 out of every 10 cars indicates!!

I've given up on driving for the time being for 2 reasons:

              1. other drivers still dont give a ****e despite seeing you in a Learner Driver car.
              2. My driving instructor was ****e & I wasnt progressing under him due to the fact that he didnt seem to want to concentrate on the things I had difficulty doing, so I was wasting my money.

On a related note, I never let anyone out on a motorway UNLESS they indicate beforehand. I can see them closing on the car in front and then have to brake, indicate etc. If you want to pull out then INDICATE.
The standard of driving on the French autoroutes is so much better in this respect even if it is indicate - move.
At least they all appear to follow an agreed practise.

People who refuse to indicate should be instantly banned from driving.

I'm not talking about the odd forgetful driver. Serial offenders = instaban for me. No excuse for it whatsoever.

Totally agree with all your comments on the driving irks guys. I really don't know how some people get away with the dangerous stuff they do and we have to put up with.

And yes, the indicating for pedestrians and cyclists is another big irk for me. They literally think it's just for car users.
Slightly related - using lights during heavy downpours. Maybe a good idea right? Yes, we know it's not dark and you can see where you are going but it is super helpful for others to see you!

And front fog lights on during the day....because it's cool.

It irks me a bit when, on a busy single-lane road, some cyclists won't use the cycle path, and choose to slow everyone down instead. It's needless and dangerous. The route I take through Durham to get to work has a cycle path practically the whole way there. It's well maintained, wide, and mostly separated from the pedestrian path. Yet, some total bell-ends insist on taking up the road. A couple of oafs the other day were riding side-by-side, on the road, in rush hour, without helmets, with a perfectly good cycle path next to them, and took up half of the lane. Ringholes.

And totally illegal if visibility is more than 100m

Also, putting your hazard lights on doesn't give you the right to stop on a junction and talk to someone you know!
...Also, please stop opening driver side doors into the road without looking...

I don't drive but people who needlessly and excessively beep their horns irk me. I live within earshot of an intersection of quite a major road, and the amount of cock-ends who beep their horns at the slightest thing drives me mental. All hours of the night too, was only a couple of weeks back when someone woke me at 3am because they decided to beep their horn for 5 seconds at a time over and over for about 3 minutes.

Can't comment on that particular section of road but it can sometimes appear stupid that cyclists aren't using cycle paths when there's a very good explanation. We have a cycle path coming into cheltenham along a 1 mile stretch of road. problem is that cycle path crosses about 15 other roads and has several staggered gates to navigate. So, if you go on the road you can cycle the mile uninterrupted whereas going on the cycle path means stopping about 17 times along the way. I'm not going on a cycle path that inconveniences me like that I'm afraid.

A google image search for 'crap cycle lanes' is a fun way to spend a few minutes...
