I want to watch them with a sense of wonder and a smile. I get sick of seeing things torn up. I'm just not interested in seeing some cute little thing get thrashed to bits and chowed. I know it's life and all, but I've no interest at all in the uglier aspects on nature. Any tolerance I did have of it has been eroded by the endless parade of it in these programmes.

I'm watching that Frozen Planet and it's put a real downer on the day. It's gone from beautiful shots of a whale swimming the icy waters, to a pack of killer whales hunting the poor sod in the truly depressing fashion of teaming up on it until it tires, taking bites from it, then drowning it by jumping on top of it.
I thought the way they showed how the killer whales will create waves to knock seal of small ice blocks and into the water was amazing. What I found incredulous though was the way they then launched the dinghy 'to get a close up'. To see the whales then adopt the same tactic on the vessel with the cameramen in was a bit chilling and shows how primeval and predatory these animals actually are. Whilst shouting at the bloke to 'sit down' I was secretly thinking 'go on, fall overboard - that'll teach you.' Not sure that would have made the final cut though.
Although it is necessary to get 'up close and personal' with these creatures to get the amazing footage they do, I do think it looks a bit foolhardy at times.
As for the harshness of nature comments - I couldn't agree more but with a proviso. Weekday - yes. Sunday - no. I can cope with the harsh realities of life during the week but like you I want to be cocooned away at the weekend and pretend only nice things happen. The working week is depressing enough without having this whupsmash you the night before. Mind - still not as depressing as the Vipahs on a Sunday night.

The Skyrim saga rumbles on. I opened the front door tonight and the missus went in first. It was pitch black and difficult to see. As she entered the hallway, I heard a sickening crack. She flipped the light on and I stared, horrified, at the amazon package that had recently bore the brunt of her hefty boot.

Wailing like a whore without a cock to chow, I ripped open the feeble cardboard envelope and found a massive f-off crack on the case of the shiny new Skyrim. Luckily, the disc is undamaged, but now I'm going to have to fart about swapping boxes with a lesser game.

This whole experience has been one sorry ordeal. I should have bought the bast at Asda on Friday night.

          Speaking of ****ty postage times:

I bought Halo Reach Ltd Edition from Bestbuy online. It went out on Monday last wk to arrive with me by courier next day.
          Tuesday comes - nothing.
Wednesday comes - checked hall at 9.30 to find a re-delivery note from some ****ty courier company I've never heard of before called Yodel. They didnt even ring the bloody doorbell ffs!
Went on their website to organise re-delivery for the next day, which was confirmed by email.
          Thurs - f*ck all!
          Fri - f*ck all!
Organise re-delivery via phone (cos the muppets aint doin ****e all from their site by the looks of it) - couldnt get it delivered today so re-scheduled for tomorrow.

I get a funny feeling it isnt going to turn up AGAIN or that its been in the system going back & forth so much that its gonna be shredded to pieces or looked kicked around Ace Ventura style.

I am gonna go twating MENTAL with these pr1cks if theres any prob tomorrow

Eddie, Yodel are the Home Delivery Network rebranded, and just as **** as they ever were. My heart always sinks when a company uses them to send me stuff.

Amazon seem to love Yodel (for bigger/next day stuff) as a word of warning. TBH I've had great and crap experiences with virtually ALL the courier companies, I really think it depends on the driver of the day and how arsed they can be.

Larger online companies have the courier comapanies apply for a contract with them, obviously going for the cheapest deal which can mean the drivers getting paid bugger all for some packages (Amazon apparently haggled very hard) if they are self employed which is how HDNL/Yodel drivers are contracted.

Doesn't excuse them doing a bad job though, I've probably lost a month of my life waiting in for bloody couriers!

Yodel are ****. I've had many similar experiences to yours, including once where they left my parcel in my dustbin

Re: Unpleasantness in wildlife programs... Perhaps some kind of COD 3/4 question... Are you a pu$$y who can't take it when a seal gets its ar$e ripped out? Press the Blue button now.

Re: Xmas adverts... What is it with the likes of Littlewood, John Lewis, M&S etc, who think they are making something of artistic merit?
With some vile hope it will go viral ffs... The only viral I'd like to see is Ebola visited on the marketing department.

Yodel recruit anyone with a car to do their deliveries. I looked into it and the pay is extremely poor so I'm amazed anyone goes for that.

Edit - just read Koops comment which sums it up nicely.

M&S are definatley not making an artistic statement with their current Xmas ad, considering there isnt an artist among them

Had a real ****ter of a day today:

Loads of work to do & no support, & twatty lazy managers complaining about it not being finished. Lazy f*ckin slug!

Went into town to cheer myself up, so thought I'd buy a bar of galaxy. Found a bar for 99p so was perfect as I only had a quid on me. Took it to the till & it scanned at ?1.75, so no chocolate for me.

Saw a really nice Snowy plush toy from the Tintin film & was gonna get it for my bird. Was about to pick it up when this old bint over-caked in makeup (you know, the type who wears so much mascara she'd have to throw her head back to open her eyes in the morning) grabbed a hold of it & got all her rouge & bloody Atrixo all over his nice white coat. Was the last 1 in the shop.

And now I get home & that c*nt from Yodel still hasnt delivered my Halo Reach parcel!

I went to a car boot sale 2 Sundays ago. There was a bloke there selling sketches of famous people that he'd drawn himself. On the end was a sketch of Frankie Cocozza from the X-Factor. Sunday ruined.
