I was speaking to one of the ladies on my team yesterday. She was originally from a 'democratic' African nation. However she told me the story of how she was forced the leave the country with her family because after she spoke out about the government at an election rally, she received a visit from the local police advising her that she wasn't welcome in the country any more and that her life may be in danger if she stayed .

Makes me realise how lucky we are to have a proper democratic system. It may not be perfect, but I'll forever cherish my right to vote.

      I think it's all a fix personally.

Popped along to the church Polling Station on the way into work this morning and was greeted by an old woman wearing a yellow award ribbon (or whatever they're called) and a young man wearing a blue one. They asked me and my girlfriend what the reference code was on our voting cards and the Lib Dem biddy repeated back a different number and started to write down the incorrect code when the Conservative lad forcefully corrected her with the kind of tone which just made me LOL, it was a perfect microcosmic moment.

        Rosette?

I don't know if I'll exercise my democratic right to vote. I don't really like any of the main parties and am unsure if I want to shoulder the responsibility of putting anybody in power - not after Blair and his antics.

I was doing this this morning. It's called "telling". We work out which way people are voting and then "knock up" anyone on our side who hasn't made it to a polling station by the evening. We offer them lifts and that sort of thing.

I got patted on the shoulder several times from people wishing us (Lib Dems) good luck. One lad said he was voting tactically for us in the hope of PR. I hope he gets what he wants, what I want. My prediction is the Tories will be only just short of a majority with maybe 300ish seats and then we can kiss goodbye to any real chance of democracy for a generation.

Didn't even know this was today, not looked into any of it, had a few things sent to me in the post but went straight in the bin, to be honest its part lazyness and part knowing that if I was to vote I would just go back and forth and never feel comfortable with any decision I made.

I'll leave it to those smarter than I to make the choice.

Cool, thanks for the info. Despite the LOLs of that encounter I voted Lid Dem, but then I'm in Leigh-on-Sea so 'hopefully' they have a pretty safe seat there? Amiss (Con) has been out in force this past week giving blue balloons to babies and generally looking like he wanted to sell somebody a used car...they need to get the **** out!

How do you work out which way people are voting?

I've often felt similar to this. Not that I'm not intelligent enough to vote, but rather that I don't feel I should have the right to vote without really knowing the ins and outs of each of the parties.

On the surface the Conservatives fit my views, but who's to say that there aren't a plethora of more minor things that I don't know about but might completely disagree with?

I don't have the time (Or realistically the inclination) to spend hours upon hours researching it, so feel I shouldn't vote because of that.

The real truth is that no matter how much you read about it you've never going to come to the unbiased truth. Not even MPs know what they're doing half the time. I would encourage you to enlighten yourself, if you feel uninformed, and vote even if you think you'll make a mistake. Your individual vote is unlikely to hold huge sway in the result anyway – what are the chances of a majority of one?

Haha! That crowd are pure comedy. I want to see them in power just so I can be proven wrong about the government being a fix.

My cute little girl. BNP would want her kind out.
