I was tickled by one of the Tory billboard ads I saw earlier:

"Vote change. Vote Conservative", it read.

It can't just be me that sees that statement makes no sense in and of itself.

The third - and final? - reading of the Digital Economy bill is going through the House of Commons tonight. So we're trying to show you where it's going. What survives, what dies?

      *sigh*

Reading this has shown that democracy in this country is utterly ****ing broken.

The digital economy bill is a really big deal.

Private companies can get sites shut down or blocked by complaining by throwing around accusations of copyright infringement (expect a situation like our libel laws where a scientist writing a scientifically backed article gets accused of libel by chiropodists).

You can get chucked off the internet for file sharing (no evidence required).

You are liable for anything someone on your public wifi does.

It's full of great nuggets like that.

      The kicker?

There were about 10 in the room debating. The vote suddenly comes along, 200 MPs arrive and vote, despite not listening to a word of the debate. They just voted how they were told to, completely ignorant of what the vote meant.

      An absolute disgrace.

This is the bit that pisses me off the most (apart from it being voted through). Can't believe that is allowed to happen.

My understanding is that it will still be subject to further scrutiny so may still not be passed.

It'll probably pass unless there is a huge public outcry or the EU step in.

Labour have done a lot I disagree with but they've also done a fair amount of good, things that the Tories would never have done if they were in power. I also think Cameron and Osborne are a sham and wouldn't want them anywhere near power. Even a flawed Labour party would be better than those two.

I'll be voting Lib Dem though, as where I live has been Tory for years (since time began as far as I know!) and the Lib Dems are the only party close enough that they might keep them out.

I actually might have voted for them anyway no matter where I lived. I know it's probably because they have the least chance of winning but they seem the most open to me when it comes to spelling out exactly what they'd do in power. For example, the Tories just claim they will save money with magical "efficiency savings" whereas I've heard Lib Dems be much more detailed in exactly what they'd cut to save money.

http://www.didmympshowupornot.com/ - sad to say mine did not. Ugh.

There were a bunch of massively stereotypical, overly loud tories in my local Starbucks today, not what I needed first thing in the morning. Although on being presented a mug of coffee, the most vocal of the group bellowed "Oh auntie, it's a big one" - everyone else's face in the building clearly suggested they thought this man was a parody of himself.

If your MP isn't Labour, they probably didn't turn up. It's utterly shameful how the whips forced this through.

I've sent an email to my MP (I live in a Tory stronghold, it's not gonna change this election), first time I've ever done so. Hopefully it'll make some sort of difference, however slight. Assuming it gets past his secretary and I don't get a form letter response that is.

I'll be voting but due to the local demographic my vote won't count for toffee. A monkey in a clown suit could get voted in round these parts. That is a major failing of the first past the post system we have.

Lib dems are about the only party pushing for proportional representation (they'd become a very powerful party if it was taken up). It is depressing to know sometimes that your vote is absolutely worthless as in your constituency it's a pretty sure thing that one party will win by a clear margin.

Shouldn't ever stop people from voting though.

I'm voting for the most extreme right-wing party I can, because it's funny.

Just emailed my MP asking why he couldn't be bothered to turn up to the DEB voting. Doubt I'll get a reply.

That'll never happen. And besides, I don't have any non-white friends so I'm safe.

The whole system is a complete joke and a total farce, I like taking the piss with it as much as I can. I'd vote for myself if I could, then you'd all be sorry.

Voting records of Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats showing support of LGBT issues in the UK.

Its stuff like this which stops me from voting Conservative, dataDave I'd vote for you if you love the gays!
