Jesus, why are white people speaking with a black accent in London these days? It just sounds terrible. Whatever happened to the old chirpy cockney chappies?

That's a general London urban dialect and is something specific to the younger generation. It's not just a "black accent".

Its not a black accent its merely a lower class one, race doesnt come into it. You'll find black, whites and Asians all speaking the same accent and slang now. Some people have dubbed it Jafaican but I call it ****!

Surely this can't be the first time you have heard white people 'trying' to be black? Its has gone on for years. As far back as the early 90s from what I remember.

I'm not sure what you mean. All I was saying was that it was a commonplace inner city dialect not exclusive to just black kids. That's all I meant.

I guess its a de-evolution of Patois (Patwa). What those little punks are saying is a bastardised version coupled in with **** grammar and language. Inner city language used to be easy to understand and quite playful.

Exactly, throw in a few Bangali terms in there and you have what those lot chat now. It may have started off in ethnic circles but its pretty much universal with "the kidz" now.

It has got to the point now where we can blame rolling 24 hours news. It's like a 24 hour advert for the riots.

As for the army, aren't they all in Afghanistan/Iraq etc? We will end up with a load of first weekend in training territorial army reservists running around. Either that or the Venture Scouts.
