In all honesty the army are better equipped and trained to deal with aggro, and they can provide numbers. Personally i'd let them open fire on every hoody they come across.

We can't touch them, that's the whole trouble. These scum have Human rights and are laughing at the Police and having the poor Army on the streets will be no better . Christ all it took was one guy being shot, to cause all this in the 1st place.

Lack of investment plus heavyweight procedures designed to protect these peoples civil liberties are the problem here not the officers.

And that there is the truth. These ppl, YOUNG ppl, know that the system is there to protect them regardless of what they do. They have no fear, because they have nothing to fear. The age of these rioters is rumored to be of between 14 - 20. The police are gonna have hard time working out whether they've pulled down a 14 yr old if he's wearing a mask while he's been throwing missiles at them. And what happens if they do? They'll get flamed by the public/government for beating down a 14 yr old.
They'll get flamed for beating ppl down or taking serious action to deal with these young uns & they're getting flamed anyway for not doing enough despite lack of troops.

I agree averybluemonkey that the polices hands are tied in many ways regarding all of this. I'm not a fan of the police, but when a situation like this occurs & they get flamed despite not having enough troops to deal with a situation then I'm gonna side with common sense.
