Yup just had the left overs today, taste even better 1 day old and reheated. It's odd how many meals taste better the next day, home made curry almost always does.

Or probably from your local Asian foods shop.

The Japanese tend to use root veg like potatoes & carrots etc in their curries. For say a chicken curry, stir fry onions and the chicken until the meat is sealed, add your other veg for a minute or so then add cold water - 700-800ml does me & the wife.
Bring to boil then simmer for about twenty minutes until potatoes are done then add the curry blocks, another four or five mins and you're done.

Because it's water based it doesn't bloat you up like an Indian curry can - meaning you can eat shed loads of the stuff!

Oh, the Hokkaido stew (top product on the Mount Fuji link), isn't eaten with rice as it's put in a soup bowl and eaten as such, really good winter warmer, great with bread!
Late reply but I am definitely going to give this a try sometime as it sounds yummy! What chicken is best for it? Fillet or stripped drumsticks etc?

Made a fairly large stir-fry tonight with egg fried rice to feed 5 people (got less meat feeding that many ). Been trying to get the rice just right but can't quite get there for that proper Chinese taste, practise makes perfect I guess.

Wicky - I have only just finished eating and that Irish stew would still go down a treat lol. Love stuff like that and casseroles.

Not much cooking going on due to injury and wife being away with work so I am planning a few days of eating whatever is in the freezer. Defrosting a chicken curry for tomorrow and have found some homemade chicken stock to use in a risotto.

I've also wondered about this, of course some foods are best when they're straight off the pan/grill, but stuff like stews and casseroles often taste better the next day (like lasagna for example). I'm sure there's a scientific explanation to this, but I don't know what. Maybe it's because they really "suck" in the flavour when they lose moisture or something...

I think that things that take a long time to cook really well, things like pie fillings, curries etc, are the ones that taste even better when left. Quicker cooked foods taste better eaten fresh.

              Here's a weird one.
              Fried onions, chilies, muhrooms, garlic.
Chuck in loads of spinach leaves.
Liquidise for a bit, but not too smooth.
              Stir in some Philidelphia cheese.
              Serve on some pasta.
Sprinkle some Dave's chili oil on top.

It barely touched the sides. Yum.

I used to love banoffee pie, my Nan makes a beauty, but I can only manage a small slice these days. She also makes a killer Lemon Meringue Pie which I have requested for when I go down this weekend

Made a quiche last night with bacon and onion. Lovely stuff.

Downside - eggy s*** this morning and the bathroom fan has stopped working.

                              Chicken breast.

Wife made homemade teriyaki hamburgers, with rice, miso soup and separate bowls of okra and goya.

Felt lazy so got a pizza from M&S. Bitterly disappointing, it had that awful sweet taste that I find in a lot of supermarket pizzas. The tonic I got for my vodka was also nasty.
