I'm of that mind set too. My nan is really good at looking after dogs (think her sister owns a kennel somewhere) but after the last two died she reckons it would be too heartbreaking to have one again. I think that is a nonsense though as a dog in her care would be far, far better looked after than by some chav or person that doesn't really give a ****.

I must admit, I never want another pet again. I have become far too selfish. I did grow up with dogs though and have some great memories.

Loving all the dog love here, decided to call her the poncy name Annah(!), forgot how boisterous a young Jack is (even odder, the one I had put down was basically a beige Jack Russell mongrel!) ripping stuff apart, running all around the house, literally no transition period but my mum's happy, I'm guessing she's more in love with the *idea* of a pet being there that she can coddle like a toddler, rather than the value of the pet itself, only just hope she can cope with it. She reminds me a bit of Dawn French in Psychoville.

Got my mum a dog for her birthday a few years ago too, all came out the blue, person in the factory opposite me got given him from a friend who didn't want him (poor little bastard had 6 homes up to that point), little manchester terrier, stupidly cute and instantly loveable, my mum didn't have a clue, was such a surprise and all worked out brilliantly, I called him Totoro and he now has an awesome home and loads of love. Its so strange that he went through so many homes yet is very intelligent, loveable, and trainable, i just cant understand how people can throw animals away like that .

Anyway, just though id spread a bit of dog love too.

People who choose "Mason's Dad" or "Jamie-Lynn's Mum" as their online username or as a nickname when texting traffic reports to Radio 2. As if they cease to exist as an individual once they have a child.

Ditto people who post details/pictures about their child's development 2 or 3 times a day. Learning to walk, talk, first day of school, passing driving test is fine but an album dedicated to "Orlando's first Papaya!!!!" and the like gets an "Unfollow" from me every time.

That happens to my wife a lot. Quite a few of her friends have started having children and when they're not boring her to death on the subject, they're asking her if she's feeling "broody". She also gets random photographs of these offspring sent through the post every few months, which are immediately binned. So glad that childbirth repulses her.

Weirdest thing was the bill - ?187. A 187 is the California penal code for homicide, how odd!
Glad he went quietly mate - sorry for your loss.. I had to take my parents dog in to be put down and had a much much MUCH worse experience.

Gaaaah. $50 postage for a $50 game, plus another seller rejecting what was quite a reasonable offer and getting back to me twelve-plus hours later with a massive $5 off counter-offer.

                      eBay...

Just heard a story that involved a kid getting extra maths homework as punishment. What kind of world are we building where a teacher sees learning as a punishment?

Buying a PS scart cable advertised as "RGB - much better picture than normal composite etc." and it actually not being wired for RGB.

Not finding out until afterwards that I was sitting very near to Julie Benz, the voice of Miranda Keyes in Halo 2 (and wife of Dexter in Dexter), at Spurs vs Arsenal the other week. Had I known I could have tried to sneak down a few rows and grab a sneaky hug during a goal celebration
