Don't you guys have a Unibladersegcycle?

It's just a training wheel for his rollerblades, he doesn't have the confidence to go without it yet.

Does it have a brake? That always seemed like something that was lacking on blades

I find the best method of braking on roller blades is to grab hold of a lamp post. It doesn't exactly look elegant but gets the job done.

I don't think it works that way. You apply for the work VISA extension/renewal but can't specify the term. My first 2 extensions were both 1 year a piece, with the following one being 3 years.

My former colleagues had the theory that the first extension is always one year only. Same is true of the spouse visa (I changed from a 3 year work visa to a 1 year spouse visa that actually expired earlier than my original permit. We questioned them on it and they cheekily said it was because our relationship may not last.)

From what I saw of others I worked with, it seemed to go 1,1,3,5. I left while my 3 year was still valid so never got the 5. Shame really.

Did you do the renewals yourself? On my form my company put three years in the section on the period of validity.

What you and Darwok say tallies with what I've found elsewhere on the internet but it can't hurt to ask for a longer period and see what happens: if they wrote one year then I expect immigration would just give one year regardless of how many renewals I've had. Especially for contract work. Why would immigration grant a longer visa if I was working for a dispatch company on contract? Or maybe they do?

If it's only a year then no big deal. I'm looking at flats around central so popping to immigration will take a lot less time than it does now(plus, being an actual company employee, I won't lose money like I have done so far - 6000Y gone each time due to taking three hours off)

My Mum's boyfriend smokes weed in the house. Initially my Mum didn't want to accept he even smoked it but now she's allowing him to smoke in the house, justifying it by saying he's done it a long time.

Fair enough, it's her house after all.

My irk is that the entire downstairs reeks of the stuff, and that's where I reside. I've now got a headache because of it. Same thing happened last week.. Bah.

I remember always putting 5 years on my forms when I was filling them in, just for the sake of it. The basic form we did ourselves, yes, we just had to go with a letter from the company with our employment details. It was pretty painless tbh. If you're going to be leaving the country for a holiday during the duration of your visa, you should get your re-entry permit (single/multiple) at the same time you renew. Saves you a trip.

Oh I don't need that because I came here last year under the new system. I've been out of Japan twice so far and there was nothing extra to do.

Smile: gf thought Ghost Busters was Ghost Bastards. All this time she never thought to check. She also thought bastard meant a male dog because bitch is female dog and people keep naming their dogs that(read: buster)
