I quit my job today, ending twelve years of being in retail.

I'll be starting a new career on my 32nd birthday next month with much better pay, lots of benefits and regular weekday working hours. No more late shifts or working on weekends. No more stockcounts. No more dreading Christmas.

My wife also ended almost a year of unemployment by landing a freelance job that pays her an obscene amount of money for working three days a week.

    Happy household.

Good stuff man. I want out of retail as it is right now, working over Christmas as I did this year was pure ****. Especially reading friends posting about how much fun they're having during their time off and I'm having to deal with telling people that yes we have indeed sold out of Christmas trees on Christmas Eve.

I feel a bit bad for mentioning my one dying in the pot now.

Retail Christmases are just the worst. This is what I had to put up with this year...

... and that was on the way in. It's not too bad though, I quite like having Christmas temps around as they haven't become hardened, jaded shop workers yet. The people I've met are really the only thing that kept me going sometimes.

I may have accidentally made white chocolate kulfi (with a hint of cinnamon).

It's definitely the same consistency, and it's bloody delicious. It was supposed to be white chocolate fudge for white day but I used too much evaporated milk so it didn't set and just turned into sauce. We ate it on French toast and it was lovely but still a bit of a failure for me because it wasn't fudge.

So I bunged it in the freezer and-oh dear God it's gorgeous.

It is amazing k0pp0, just how quick it all goes. My daughter is 10 (I think I posted a thread here all those years ago) and the twins will be three next Sunday. Three, ffs!

Thanks! I'd like like to believe that a better job means a better quality of life but I'm probably going to blow it all on SNES games.

Thanks Colin. Quite dangerous seeing your name in here, as I've just realised that I'd be able to afford an MVS setup now!

                            congrats, Decider!

My 32nd will be the end of this year and hopefully by that time I'll have been promoted. Career-based birthday presents!

Sounds like you could go for an AES setup.

No longer being a mod means I can now have an extensive ignore list. Ahhh, so liberating!
