I ended up ordering about 8 Matchbox cars out of pure nostalgia to beef out the ones in storage, need to stop already. Searching through ebays listings at what's available is too addictive.

Another memory, I remember asking for stuff one Xmas and at the time Transformers were all the rage. On Xmas morning I woke to find a Rodimus TF in my presents, my young mind was surprised as I hadn't asked for it and my parents said Santa must have accidentally left it behind as someone elses lost present. I believed that for ages

I was always disappointed Rodimus was all plastic

Just got it back, they couldn't do much about the creases but I'm happy enough, at least the condition shouldn't get any worse now that it's behind glass.(sorry about the grainy iphone pic)

Toys R Us UK - The World's Greatest Toy Store is Back!

Toys R Us is back in business in the UK. Online only at the moment but you can now buy from them once again, they've cut videogames from their offerings however

Yep, it's not a market that's going to every pay off for them. They need a UK store presence now though, we go to Smyths with the kids just for the jaunt

Yeah, a toy shop is an experience ... hope they do have a physical presence again.

There's a magical place, and we're on our way there, with toys in their millions, all under one roof...and it's called, Toys R Us!

*very rapid voiceover describing ranges of Barbie, Action Man, and Sylvanian Families, followed by 'Exit the M6 at Junction 9, follow the signs for Wednesbury'*

Those adverts are tattoooed forever into my brain by Saturday morning ad breaks

Other than that I have no comment on this. I have no idea how viable a toy shop is in 2022 although Smyths and The Entertainer seem to do well out of it. Agreed that excluding videogames makes a lot of sense.

I want you to know I read this, in my head, in that rapid voice's tone, cadence and timbre

THERE'S MILLIONS SAY'S JEFFREY ALL UNDER ONE ROOF

Hate to bring the mood down, but this is a bit like when Woolworths, Zavvi etc had their names bought and used by otherwise unrelated online retailers, isn’t it?

It's a weird one with Toys R Us. The Australian incarnation of the company is the one behind the UK relaunch and is a separate body to the original but that was always the case with the UK and many other countries versions of the stores. Unlike the modern Woolworths and Zavvi incarnations though they will be starting to open bricks and mortar stores next year.
