My tax/health insurance deduction is about 25% at the moment which includes a pension I'll likely never see. It'll go up next year because of how much I'll have earned this year. I try not to mull over it too much because it's about the same as I was losing in the UK and I wasn't even paying council tax then.

How on earth does one go about getting a tax rebate? I've never had one but some of my friends seem to get them almost every year.

I've had a couple of the years, it's the Tax Office that have contacted me to tell me I'm due one, always found them pretty good like that. Otherwise suppose it's worth a call to them to check if you've overpaid for the tax year.

Going through my last gen back catalogue I started playing Tomb Raider 2013 on the PC. Really enjoying it and I could see myself having a nice gaming session until I came to the wolf cave and the Quick Time Event...

After dying for the 50th time I had enough and googled it to see what I was doing wrong. Turns out that the QTEs aren't synced properly to the screen and that getting past them is more to do with luck than anything else, very annoyed as this still hasn't been patched. Luckily I bought the game for ?2 or something in a steam sale but if I'd paid ?40 for this on release I'd be pissed off...

In Canada you have to file a tax return yourself every year. I opt-in to pay extra tax ($50 bi-weekly) and get a rebate for months of part- or full-time studying. I paid about $3500 in tuition last year and ~10k in tax, netting a 3k rebate as I was part time for 7 months (7x$110 rebate) and full time for 3 months (3x$220 rebate).
One of the guys I work with just got $5200. But he'd paid 14k+ in tuition.
