vanilla android is ok but company's think they can do better so stick skins over them to make them there own. Which is why you get stuff like touch wiz, and htc sense, and the awful amazon fire OS,

Maybe you should just not use that racist term instead?

I have an S4 mini and I touchwiz is a nightmare - a vast array of battery draining options that I have turned off. It also drains battery about 30% over night even in airplane mode.... I'm considering loading Cyanogen 10.2 (old version) because users report about 1% an hour drain in airplane mode. But I'll gain root and my bank app will stop working That's my irk.

maybe Samsung will take note now that there getting hammered in the marketplace and drop all the bloteware.

its crazy as the nexus line of phones and tablets, are always considered the best android experiences as they come with vanilla android on them,

I had a Nexus tablet for a job last year and found it intolerable. It was a pretty powerful machine but the interface and navigation was messy. For all my slight irks about lack of progress or actually making some features worse over time, I haven't once found a system as nice and streamlined as iOS.

The above is how I picture Android device ownership.

My phone is a Nexus 5 and I like it a lot. I find its design hassle free for work, and as we use Google Apps at my company its deep Google integration is a benefit. It was also ?300, instead of ?600 for the iPhone. I prefer some areas of it to iOS, particularly the built in calendar application and multitasker/app switcher. However I'm not a fan of widgets and instead have my homescreens laid out with just app icons, like on iOS.

However for my tablet, which is not a work device for me, I have always used iPad, currently an Air 2. From what I've seen of Android tablets the software just still isn't there.

Dogg Thang clearly has low threshold for pain.

My wife has a Nexus 5 (on vanilla Android Lollipop) and frankly the sheer speed at which you can do stuff is brilliant. It dumps all over phones twice its price just because it isn't running all the carrier and phone manufacturer bloatware. Samsung etc. should just concentrate on making phones and leave the skins in the bin.

I've loved both of my Samsung phones but the bloat ware is a pain.

With the phones I suppose it depends on what you use it for, when I got my Xperia Z I stripped out any unneeded apps from it and haven't had to do anything with it since. The thought of getting tied into Apples software again and knowingly paying over the odds for an inferior phone is beyond consideration.

Is it possible to remove the unwanted stuff?
