Good thing you posted in the irk thread, then!

I'm in belt-tightening mode, too. Gf is off to Vietnam for the long September bank holiday and I'm staying put(not least because I only get the Monday off, not Mon-Wed). I think she's planning to buzz off to Malaysia in October as well. She needs holidays. Or so she says. I've never needed a holiday like that, but then I was living in London. Japan's like a cage for her so I can't relate. I told her Japan is sort of like a holiday for me and I can hop on a train and visit somewhere I've never seen before quite easily.

Yeah, my other half has been to more countries than I can name and point at on a globe.

        Sony.
Went to download God of war on ps3. 8 minutes to PREPARE TO DOWNLOAD IN THE BACKGROUND. Prepare! Left it running all night. 40% complete in 8 hours. Wired connection on a solid 50mbit line. Then I Went to ps+ section on vita store, looking for stealth Inc 2 in the ps+ section; no sign of it but I know it's there because when I was on the ps3 I saw it there for ps3,4 and vita. Oh, and the mgs games don't work on psvita TV. WHY NOT!? It makes no sense.

          This should be their tagline.

Tell me about it. Mine, too. 60 cities in 27 countries so far and she's 28.

But I like to think I win because I can speak more languages.

360 wiped the floor with them in this respect. I think the 360 downloads are a single XEX file, like an ISO, so no need to install anything.

Installing is the worst. If you background-download anything it won't install automatically(which does make sense). I know it installs stuff if you have automatic updates on but I'd have to wait until 3AM . Also, this is definitely my imagination but I feel that downloads speed up if I look at them and/or pause/resume, unlike my kettle which simply refuses to boil no matter how much I give it evils.

Have you tried the file system cleanup thing? I did it last week and my PS3 does things like preparing downloads quicker than before. It didn't delete anything important. It did blitz my album name settings which I used to organise my games(Action, RPG, etc) but they tell you it'll do that.

Cheers mate I'l give that a go. Yeah PS3 is pretty awful. PS4 is pretty amazing in this respect though; download and install speeds are really good and I find that everything is basically always up-to-date and ready to play. Steam isn't as good in that last respect as I don't leave my PC on but it gets around the issue by totally maxing out my bandwidth.

Be careful - one of the options formats the drive but I think it's obvious which. My 250GB HDD didn't take long to clean up. I think it was about five minutes for one of those and a few seconds for the other.

One thing I've noticed and I'm not sure if this is specifically PS3 - if I download something it'll then update when I play it. I'd have thought they would update the files so whenever you download something you get the latest version automatically, like with Apple's App Store.

The PS4 downloads the game and update files at the same time (but as separate files), then installs all at once.

My irk, just went past a Barbers, lots of pics in the window of blokes with different styles, and one of them is Paul Walker

All the little niggles that renewing our new has is revealing. We've made really great progress with some things, but I do something simply like remove a coat rack and it creates a whole new expensive problem to solve

Applied for a job and they wanted me to supply URLs for my LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ accounts, which was never going to happen. I'm increasingly convinced the HR people just want to spy on people and hire who they fancy.

What a load of crap. Well I'm not on any of those, so what does that make me, unemployable? Nonsense.
