Do you wanna see what a tablet should be used for?

      That camplight is superb!

The play symbol on the graphic obscures some of the text, when I first saw it I thought it said "whack snails with it".

      I thought ey'up that's a bit cruel.

🤣 Whack snails. I'm not that bad.
Sadly, I think the camp light is the only good thing on this tablet.
I had the camera ISO set right down so the Pixel 7 Pro light did bugger all. In reality I could see just fine with it. Compared to that camp light though, man, it was no contest.

Been with Virgin Mobile for ages - probably over fifteen years, they merged/sold to o2 who from January go to a new pricing model which means a bigger increase than was in the past.
I pay just over £9, this is going up to £11. I get 40gb a month but I only use a few mb so doesn't seem worth it so I've dropped them and gone with Smarty, 5gb for £6 a month.
          Yearly saving £60.

Newest iPhone SE likely to be launched next week.

And here it is, now called iPhone 16e:

iPhone 16e. Built for Apple Intelligence. 6.1” Super Retina XDR OLED display. A18 chip. Long battery life. 48MP camera.

A modest discount (£599 versus £799 for the regular 16) for a few modest subtractions. You get a notch instead of a 'dynamic island' hole punch, a very slightly worse camera system, and you don't get to pick a fun colour (black or white only). You also don't get the special 'camera control' button although from what I've read that might be a blessing rather than a curse.

Other than that it's largely the same as the 16.

The timing is good for me, as my Dad is using a very knackered old SE and it's his 70th later this year, so I'll snag him one of these in black.

The MIL is still using an iPhone 6 which is now unable to update various apps she uses. I may get the 16E and give her my beloved 13 mini. Come on Apple bring back smaller phones please.

An iPhone 6, that must be positively glacial nowadays. I'm still using my iPad Air 2 (released 2014, the same year as the 6), and it's ex...tre...mely....slo......w.

I only use it for reading ebooks and manga in bed though so it's okay as long as I keep it plugged into the wall whenever I'm not using it. Browsing in Safari is a painful experience however

Apple advertising their new "affordable unit at $599", oh so just a cheap stocking filler then? or a causal pick up at starbucks off the snack counter

I really miss my Xperia 1. It still runs fine in itself but the USB port is unreliable and the battery drains pretty quickly so I've been using a Samsung A34 since. The Xperia 1 though, man. I'd snap a replacement up so quick if it wasn't already a 6 year old phone.

Google likely to officially ditch Google Assistant and replace it with Gemini. Possibly to be announced at Google I/O in May.

                          Official Google blog post:

Over the coming months, we’ll be upgrading users on mobile devices from Google Assistant to Gemini.
