Sadly, I think the camp light is the only good thing on this tablet.
I had the camera ISO set right down so the Pixel 7 Pro light did bugger all. In reality I could see just fine with it. Compared to that camp light though, man, it was no contest.

Been with Virgin Mobile for ages - probably over fifteen years, they merged/sold to o2 who from January go to a new pricing model which means a bigger increase than was in the past.
I pay just over £9, this is going up to £11. I get 40gb a month but I only use a few mb so doesn't seem worth it so I've dropped them and gone with Smarty, 5gb for £6 a month.
Yearly saving £60.

And here it is, now called iPhone 16e:
iPhone 16e. Built for Apple Intelligence. 6.1” Super Retina XDR OLED display. A18 chip. Long battery life. 48MP camera.
A modest discount (£599 versus £799 for the regular 16) for a few modest subtractions. You get a notch instead of a 'dynamic island' hole punch, a very slightly worse camera system, and you don't get to pick a fun colour (black or white only). You also don't get the special 'camera control' button although from what I've read that might be a blessing rather than a curse.
Other than that it's largely the same as the 16.
The timing is good for me, as my Dad is using a very knackered old SE and it's his 70th later this year, so I'll snag him one of these in black.Last edited by wakka; 19-02-2025, 15:23.

An iPhone 6, that must be positively glacial nowadays. I'm still using my iPad Air 2 (released 2014, the same year as the 6), and it's ex...tre...mely....slo......w.
I only use it for reading ebooks and manga in bed though so it's okay as long as I keep it plugged into the wall whenever I'm not using it. Browsing in Safari is a painful experience however

Somewhat tangentially connected to phones, Jonny Ive and his company Love From have teamed up with Open AI and are making a small AI driven device that's got some people in a flap.
The description of the currently unknown device is "the device isn't a pair of glasses, given that Ive has been sceptical about building something you have to wear. It's not a phone either, since Ive and Altman want to help wean people off of screens. Rather, it's described as a "third core device" after a MacBook Pro and an iPhone."
That seems interesting to me and somewhat believable. But the owner of Open AI has described "I've been able to live with it, and I think it is the coolest piece of technology that the world will have ever seen."
So no hype or pressure from his side then.
Either way, could be an interesting device and I'm excited to see what Ive helps create after leaving Apple.
