Russia don't have to worry about the entire world joining NATO, unless they intend to attack one of the countries trying to join. Like that's literally the only reason to object.
The world should've given Russia a bloody nose when this began. No-one's safe from this type of attitude.

And this is all under the watchful eye of China too, if this remotely works out for Putin then we're going to see some massive movements from other players going forward.

So I say this: there will not be any invasion of the Ukraine by Russia.
If there is, then I politely request the moderators of this fine forum ban me for 30 days. A one month ban. That will cool my heels, and should placate @Cassius_Smoke too.

He doesn't need to take the whole country. Just confirming Russian control over Crimea and the regions aroudn the Black Sea will be enough.
The blow to NATO will be pretty huge if the western countries don't do anything, and as DataDave said, it's pretty much a given China will invade Taiwan and completely assimilate Hong Kong.

Politically can't hold it, or is the Russian force not enough to hold it?

Basically that that don't have the forces or the finances to hold it in the long term. They said that even when they declare victory the battling will continue as Ukranians will shift to guerilla tactics over the long term meaning that they will be eroded over time, coupled with the staggering financial blow the country will face and loss of military funding as a result from sanctions. Putin will ultimately have to deal with domestic unrest at how hard things in Russia become too. The nutshell being that Ukraine and its population is too large for Russia
