Honestly, if self serving Mogg wasn't in the thick of it now I'd be convinced all of these appointments were to create a fall guys line up for when the General Election is a disaster. He'd never allow himself to get caught out that easy though. The next two years is going to be corruption in its purest form.

Given all the uncertainty over the government, losing the Queen at the same time is going to cause more problems. I'm not a royalist (in fact I dislike the concept of hereditary titles) but the royal family has a practical function. I expect much of the Commonwealth will fall apart for starters.
Plus, if the Queen dies, watch the Tories make a huge deal of the grief while they try to push through a ton of stuff while everyone's busy looking that direction.
Then again, maybe it's like when a company has a scandal, and they announce an accounting issue, a change of CFO and a product recall in the same week; when you're at rock bottom, the only way is up.

I'm more inclined to think they may just enjoy a few months of media-fed, jingoistic triumphalism to cash in on "the nation's grief" and have a breather.
On that matter, if there are any forumites based in Britain who like live TV, news, radio or daily print media while not being a rabid monarchist, I suggest you consume as much as you can in the next 12 hours and then sack it off until the New Year.
