Just had confirmation of the October energy price rise and I'm estimating its going to mean an extra £20/month dual gas/electricity bill, a 25% rise.
I'll be paying around £100/month from October. That means my bill will have doubled in less than a year. I can bear that but I will have to tighten my belt significantly. For large families and those on low wages and small fixed incomes already paying several hundreds/month its going to be bad, really bad.

Nope no windfall tax needed here we’ll just print more and give it away to the energy companies as their really really struggling for super yachts right now.

UK’s mounting debts unsustainable if sweeping tax cuts go ahead, warns IFS | Government borrowing | The Guardian
It's almost a tad impressive how brazenly the Tories are pursuing a very transparent plan now to do as much damage to the UK as they can over the coming two years to create a situation where they can try to recreate blaming Labour if the next term goes that way. There should be some sort of way of holding these things to account whereby if it's shown that decisions are made to do damage by design for political gameship then those in charge are held for treason.
