In the space of a week, we've had an unelected PM and unelected monarch.
People are being arrested for shouting dissent to the royal family (not the king, but Andrew) and holding up "Not My King" signs.
One guy had a blank sign and was told he'd be arrested if he wrote on it.

Doesn't quite feel like a democracy at the moment.

No idea. I wasn't here then. If the current one died I wouldn't care less. I don't know him. To me he's a compete stranger just like the Queen. The thing is, the Queen is a symbol of the country that should be commemorated but ****, the amount of inconvenience it is causing is too much.
That's just my opinion of course.

It's particularly frustrating for me because I'm trying to shield my missus from proceedings as much as possible, I don't want it to bring up bad memories of her folks passing. I was hoping we might be able to go shopping or something, but as it stands I'm really running out of options. I don't think it's fair to make the entire country bathe in grief like this.

Now that is sensible. Doing something like that as a sign of respect, I understand. It's like a minutes silence in a way.

I just remembered that in 2018 the then emperor died. For sure the country never shut down. I don't remember any disruption in anything at all. The only thing we got was a crap load on TV and an extra holiday

To commemorate the royal funeral and the mark the death of the Queen, on Monday 19 September my services will be closed and so I won't be feeding my children or changing the nappy of my youngest as a mark of respect for her highness.

Will you be putting up a special poll to commemorate the occasion though?
