Last minute adjustments managed to get our pre-rise combined bil of £96 per month to change to Required - £115pm/ Recommended £128pm

Gone with paying the recommended amount as over the summer it should add to the buffer of credit we already have in our account whilst we're barely using the gas and make the inevitable October rise easier to absorb

          I'm dreading my own.

I've been paying about 40% per month more than normal for the last four months deliberately to ensure my account was significantly in credit at the end of March. But with these sorts of rises I will probably be having to shell out that increased amount as normal from now on.

whats desperately sad is their is now lots of guides online on how to heat the person and not the home, electric gloves, body warmers and blankets can be run for penny's a day, and costs significantly less than central heating.

^ That's exactly what I've been doing for years.

Hot water bottles, 'indoor' jackets, multiple layers, thermal socks and long-johns. It is so 19th century but my choice. The idea that's the best advice the government and its agencies can give the desperately cash strapped in the wake of these prices rises is pathetic.

Today on ideals before common sense:

Campaigners say everyone can stop buying Russian fuel faster if we 1-Ban commercial flights across Europe, 2-Ban cars from entering city centres everywhere, 3-Introduce Energy rationing including fixing a maximum thermostat setting of 18 degrees in winter

Extinction Rebellion will next week roll out their biggest protest in London yet against the use of fossil fuels by causing as much congestion as they possibly can

I’ve now limited the other half to 2 x20m central heating bursts a day, mainly to for the house sake than hers. Otherwise she has multiple blankets and a heated blanket for when lounging which costs next to nothing, I don’t really get cold so I’m fine.

Once she has had her 20 minutes of heat she can always Huddle around your PS5 or Series X for warmth them things kick out some right heat.

Blankets and slipper socks help a lot. That or just stay in bed for as long as possible

Ah, I remember the days of staying in bed. No kids banging on the door and waking you at 6am. Bliss.

Indeed. Also, if someone doesn't heat their home, you get less evaporation so water builds up, which increases the chance of damp, mould and other issues, which ultimately cause more costs through repairs and replacements.

God bless the Conservative party. Take another sip of Taittinger Boris, you've got even more blood on your hands.

That's a good point actually. Everyone should buy loft insulation and double it up. It helps.
