No don’t do that, your loft needs to breathe to let moisture rise up and out the house and you can impede that process by doubling the insulation up, better off replacing it with new if its getting old.

Also when i said i need to get my roof done I mean the ENTIRE roof, tiles, eves, everything, a literal new roof, sigh.

3 of the 5 flats we have lived in have been ground floor/ lower floor flats. The lower floor one had bad damp problems but the advantage of having neighbours above you is it kept your place warmer for longer.

Our current place would be quite toasty if it wasn't for its Victorian leaky sash windows

Just had my updated direct debit details and I am going to be paying about 50% more each month for dual fuel (G & E) than I was at this time last year.

Just read about one of the head pricks at Bulb, Hayden Wood, who is still being paid £250,000 a year even though it is now in 'special administration' after going bust. Not amused.

Co-founder Hayden Wood tells MPs he was asked to stay on to "support customers".

My old house in London had these dreadful windows in the winter we used that cheap secondary glazing film.
It’s amazing how well it works the only downside is double sided tape around the frame can remove paint when you take it off so be careful.

Have you tried putting extra barriers up in the windows? Extra curtains etc? Or solid blinds that fill the window box? It all helps.

Like I said in the UK thread, EU regulations state all appliances on standby should use no more than 0.5w. As highlighted above, this is the case.
                0.5w per year is £1.31. Not £24.

Handy to know, makes you wonder why appliances with "rest" modes dont have consumption notifications when you enable them.

Not enough fact to the level at which British Gas are trying to spin some sort of half-baked narrative, which was my point.

They updated the xbox energy saver mode so it will now perform updates (used to only be available in instant-on mode) so at this point I see literally no point using any other option...

Genuinely thought we were past the point of falling back on the tired "bLaMe iT aLL oN viDeOgAmEs!!!!1111" horsesh1t trope.

                        Apparently not though.

I guess they were looking t the figures estimated as a whole.
I think its important we reduce excess energy usage. But i fear it wont make a difference as I expect prices to rise again regardless in October.

Let's see what excuses they make everyday appliances they blame us for using in October while they line their pockets with fat-cat bonuses and Government subsidies. Again.

Consoles use dramatically less power updating themselves and games in rest mode than when being in ON mode, so whatever British gas want to say those modes save a LOT of energy on the whole each year.

But year lets blame games, don’t worry about your oven thats on a 30amp supply at all, no no thats fine, its the games fault.
