What an absolute crock of f*****g s**t. There’s no shortage whatsoever in any shape or form.

Unless your counting the shortage of yachts for the energy firm board members to buy from the outrageous profits.

Handouts are the wrong way to do this. Absolutely wrong. That's just giving people back money that the gov't took in taxes, and will have to be paid back. The costs just need to be cheaper.

They really should just freeze the prices. If the energy companies all collapse wouldn't that just be forced nationalisation?

Energy companies should collapse. Energy needs to be provided, and other companies (who might have learned something) will step in to fill the void.

It wont cripple these company's, The issue in the UK now is we are protecting the profits of a company over protecting the public. Everyone in the UK is being asked to shoulder the burden of increased bills so shareholders still get large payouts relating to the shares they hold, that to me is crazy when its a case of life and death for vulnerable people come winter.

It would require more than a freeze on rises they need to reverse what ofgem did by increasing the last price cap, It really dose feel like the price cap is not being used correctly as the energy company's are not using it as a ceiling but as the new level they can now charge.

I doubt the conservatives will do anymore than throw another bung at the UK for January with some bull**** attached that we are going to have to pay it back through higher taxes and pay freezes, and completely ignore the fact that shareholders and bosses of these company's are earning ridicules sums of money still.

Between this winter and the pandemic and the NHS... has a UK Government ever been responsible for a higher level of its publics deaths during peacetime?

That's always what price caps are, though. See also: University fees.

This is exactly what will happen. We will probably have British Gas back next year. It's finally dawning on people that the Ukraine war is going to last years and Putin will cut off the gas if he doesn't make the progress he wants.

Wouldn't surprise me if we have higher inflation than Russia next year as well due to Brexit.

Maybe they could look at the cost of the standing charge? Why we should have to foot the bill because a company went under and another one had to take their customers on?

Another thing. You'd think with all this hot, sunny weather that there was a way to harness it and use that to power stuff?
