Its certainly is - I think what he's getting at is the tabloid press picking and choosing dramatic headlines. A lot of the hard fact are being hidden.
My elderly neighbour is convinced her her bills are going to be 10k +.

      Exactly my point.

The same complaint about the tabloids piling on the fear was being made by Anne Widdecombe earlier this week, saying it is unhelpful, unnecessary and they should stop it. It is already affecting the most vulnerable people, older OAPs' in particular, mental health.

Some of them have been in self-imposed lockdown for over two years for fear of contracting Covid and now they're being told by the sensationalist media of all types that their safe space, their own homes are going to become their tombs.

      Not helpful is an understatement.

it’s all a con truss will come in and save the day as her first act in government, the papers and media then sing her praises and she cements herself as someone who can sort out the UK from day one.

or she comes in dose nothing and the country burns… can’t see this option working myself.

Truss has said today that there'll be no more "direct help" for everybody if she should become the new PM.

Let's face it, the country is going to hell in a handcart and if you're not earning £100,000s or have a massive inheritance, you're ****ed!!

It's all well and good the chancellor saying "we all need to look at our energy usage" but he's worth millions so won't feel the strain of rising prices.

I’ve just bought a factory i now can’t afford to power as my supplier won’t add it to my existing contract, and the variable rate is astronomical for the equipment im running. Currently using it as a warehouse basically with no power whatsoever, ill have to run a new line from my other unit next door.

If this crisis isn’t sorted out in the next 1.5 years when my contract runs out I’ll have to sack everyone and sell the business off, as it wont be worth paying 8k a month for each factory to run.

MPs get their energy paid for by us. Why would they give a ****?

Pub gets quoted over £6000 a month for their new energy bill. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world...03558a09b37b3d

Just sack the staff and shut up shop at that, its not worth the bother of running a business with your energy at that price.

I seriously think Truss is courting a civil war at this stage, the Poll Tax Riots were for less. If she honestly thinks most people will just sit back and let their business go to the wall and then go home to sit in a house with no heat or electric, she is delusional.

If we could get the whole country to start only buying essential items, and from their local shops first (until they run out of stock and only then use the big supermarkets) until the energy supplier greed (stop calling it energy crisis; it’s greed) is amended then the likes of Amazon, pret, Starbucks, Argos would all be in the government’s case as their businesses start to fail.

I haven’t really thought this through of course but ffs we have to do something.

There really has to be a breaking point and I feel like we've got to be very close to it. Even where we're at now, I'm on a good salary and energy costs are absolutely kicking my ass. Any higher and I could be in trouble. It's got to be hurting a lot of people right now and especially vulnerable people in poverty. They simply won't be able to pay - it won't even be a choice to resist. So what happens then?

This is a national crysis of completely the governments doing, its incompetence on the govs part (plus greed) and pure greed on the energy companies part because the gov is letting them get away with it.

The government needs to go, now.

True. The price cap actually facilitates it now. It was brought in to stop rampant profiteering and worked that way for about a year or less. Now it's been flipped and functions effectively as a guarantee that these companies, which have been absolutely creaming it for years, cannot make a loss. What other businesses are protected like that?

I think/hope the **** will hit the fan when the energy companies start notifying people of their increased bills, which is due in the next few weeks.
