Oh Trumples trying to lump native Americans in the classification of (you weren't born here), ok then, ok then, just going straight here are we?

    Comment

On Saturday, he said "children should not be guilty of the sins of their parents, let alone their great grandparents," apparently referring to Germany's Nazi past.
They should if they're trying to ressurected their actions, you know like wanting to promote "the master race" as the AfD manifesto does ...

Mass immigration has a high potential for conflict and is not a viable economic soluition. The only mid- and long-term solution is to attain a higher birth rate by the native population by stimulating family policies
And here was me thinking if people are working, spending their earnings and paying taxes into the system, that's a viable economic solution, regardless of their origins. Studies have shown that whilst 1st generation immigrants in Germany have a slightly higher impact on net fiscals (mostly down to pension drag), 2nd generation and native are largely identical.

The manifesto** basically just blames immigration for everything and has a stick up its butt about Islam and multicultralism, it's pretty repugnant stuff.

      ** It's a PDF download.

Their argument being two-fold, citizenship means being under the jurisdiction of the USA and many natives pledge first to their tribes, and that an old ruling excluded native Americans from paying tax, and thus that also should exclude them from being citizens. Both bull**** reasons of course...
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Trump trying to deport and sending ICE agents to farms, groves etc, has backfired spectacularly, as all the pickers and workers are not showing up to work, and thus crops aren't being picked/harvested, and will drive prices up sharply and quickly

Maybe they'll need to have a rethink about imposing tariffs, so they can import the food they'll need.

Trump’s vengeance machine isn’t only about retribution. It’s also intended to intimidate Trump critics

I was reading on Reddit someone had installed the model locally and said it was then happy to give Winnie the Pooh jokes etc without workarounds.

Guess the censorship is all done server-side in order that it can be kept up to date easily.

In the article linked above it talks about how Gemini will refuse to answer questions about 'political figures'.

That's a pretty convenient way of deploying exactly the same kind of censorship with a Western tilt. I've no doubt that'll continue to be expanded under Trump.

                  Also:

We're def headed for a US dictatorship.

The Democrats are such a useless bunch of spineless bastards. One week it's, the guy's a fascist and a threat to democracy, then he wins and Biden's sitting down to have ****ing tea with him on the inauguration day. Smh.

Yep. They're being very clear on the intention.

And also from your link above: "It also prohibited the promotion of “un-American” theories that suggest America’s founding documents are racist or sexist." So full on censorship of ideas is happening. The amount of stuff in just a few days is staggering. I'm holding out hope that his age is a limiting factor in the dictatorship but I find it hard to see how they can go back or repair from this.

'Un-American' has got a real nice McCarthyite ring to it.

Trump still has no idea how tariffs work

Trump is illegally seizing federal funding, yet more moves that signal US economic collapse risk - a Project 2025 intent which would mean social care services would collapse and millions would lose their assets allowing the nations richest to grab land and property etc up for bottom dollar value... and just so happens to be making these decisions?

I liked how the Trump and the US was so concerned about TikTok being a piece of Chinese spyware that the Supreme Court backed them up in banning it.
Everyone moaned and Trump passed an Executive Order to postpone the ban (to make himself appear the hero).

Now, 5 minutes later, DeepSeek, a Chinese AI assistant is the top downloaded app from the Apple store.

I hope China finds out what it's looking for, because America deserves it. (It's No.1 in the UK too, obvs.)

I'm enjoying the irony of people working for US AI firms losing their jobs because of Chinese AI.

To my knowledge, it still hasn't made it back to the app stores because Trump actually doesn't have the power to postpone the ban. Executive orders are not a free for all to overturn laws. Much of what has happened with Bytedance and TikTok has been a bit of a stunt that achieved in part what they wanted but it's not done yet. And yeah, with Red Note and now DeepSeek, the very thing that they were worried about is coming to pass.

Although I feel like the bigger lesson in the DeepSeek thing is that nobody, not the US and not even China, ultimately will be able to exert control over AI. Getting AI out to market cheaper and quicker is just a thing that's going to keep happening.

It was never about security; anything the US does is to try and ensure it remains the only hegemony on the planet.

Cheap AI is a direct result of stopping NVIDIA's cards going to China, so what do people do in that situation? Innovate.
