Mike Johnson becomes fourth Republican to be nominated for US House speaker this month | House of Representatives | The Guardian
Johnson has previously spoken favourably of Democrats and Nancy Pelosi and was also the lead Republican campaigner in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results so... this should go really well for the R's.

              Maine shooter found dead.

"I'm breathing a sigh of relief tonight knowing that Robert Card will not be a threat to anyone," she said.

Lewiston Police Chief David St Pierre added that he was "elated" by the news, but "our work is not done here".

All fine then. Carry on as normal. Relief and elation.

Yup. Phew, just the 18 dead then, what a relief!

The only solution is limiting access to 3D printers to curb the spread of housemade guns.

3D printing sure is advanced these days. The Maine shooter's gun look like it was manufactured from some sort of metal.

3D printing guns isn't really a problem yet. This was something that came up in and around the murder of Shinzo Abe, because the killer used a home-made gun.

3D printing a gun is actually quite easy; however, it will only be lethal from close-range, can only really be fired once. Then there's the ammunition; if you're in the UK, you can't buy it (if you can, you can probably buy a gun!) and making your own is harder than making the gun.

Point is that for the things a person would do with a 3D-printed gun, they could use something much more accessible like a knife. And if they have the skills to make a good one, 3D-printing isn't a problem; that person could make a firearm via various other home methods.

Governments will ban it etc. because they want to look like they're doing something.

It's already illegal to murder people and yet... I hardly think making it illegal print your murder weapon is going to help

The genie is already out of the bottle, as already said this is a knee-jerk reaction by politicians that have to show they are doing something.
