I really didn’t end up going well for them.
Didn’t go well for the buyer or seller?

Must be the new thing. It’s just not worth the aggro trying to sell on there anymore.

I got ripped off when I sold my computer before I left for Japan. It was a Shuttle XPC that I'd built, and I was gonna throw in the branded carrier bag and monitor-sling as a freebie.

Negotiated a price and was going to do the deal at a friend's place who was closer to the buyer. He turns up, and was meant to give me, I think, £400, but in the moment, told me that he was only going to give me £300, and I could take it or leave it - but he was also aware (due to proto-social-media) that I was leaving the country in 3 days and didn't have a choice.

I had to go for it, because he was right. But I was furious. When he reached for the bag/sling to pack it all up I told him he could leave them. He asked how much I wanted for them, and I told him £100, which pissed him off, but I told him if he was gonna stiff me out of £100 he could carry the gear with his own two hands. He'd handed over the cash at that point, so in the end, just decided to leave them. I did manage to sell them for £50, so clawed back some of what I lost.

For the “buyers”, they tried to walk off with the keys, shouting hes a scammer, hes trying to rob us!! we paid for this car!! They didn't know the mechanic is ex-police and had seen the scam quite a few times over the years. They also failed to notice that he had text me about them, and i had come out and blocked their car in with my forklifts before hand, as he knew something was going to kick off, which it did as 2 of them thought they were hard cases, those two took a trip to meet the concrete and the other 2 ran off.

Turns out the car they drove here was scammed as well, so stolen, which the owners were able to eventually recover, the other 2 that ran off were picked up at the local morrisions by police as they had no idea how to get home. They had been doing this for a fair while apparently, but f*****d up that time and came unstuck.

Made the day a bit less mundane at least.

Not even surprised with the way people chance things these days. I had a guy try to get me to lower costs for a PS4 a few years back while he was driving over, after we have already agreed everything... He got pushy as well. Ended up telling him to do one and sold it to someone else.

            Love it

We're just going to take the phone to CEX now. You might get less money, but its a lot less hassle (hopefully!)

Oh the police got all four of them, the 2 that visited the floor didn’t get up for a while, I don’t know why, it’s a mystery to this day.

What really shocked me the most though wasn’t at how things kicked off, it was the reality bending bull of “your scamming US, your stealing from US” they pulled, like their trump or Putin and can just create a reality that they truly believe is correct and that’s now the way of things.

Gah, my office chair has broken; the lock on the slider on the bottom piece has gone, meaning it's sliding around all the time when you sit on it. I'll have to replace it; unfortunately it's a Miller Aeron, and they're normally £400+. I was lucky; I got this for £60 on eBay in 2019 but that was unusual.

                  Can’t you repair it?

I've emailed them, but I'm doubtful. It's the mechanism in the base of the chair, not the lock lever. Plus it's rusted, the rubber is failing... Like it's been "on the way out" for over a year but I'm determined to use it until it becomes unusable.

                      That’s a shame.

Royal Mail tracking website down a-****ing-gain.

                            Right after a price rise.

(Generally I'm a fan of RM, think they do a decent enough job, but recently...piss poor.)

Pretty scary when you have a rare item in the post with them. Even when they're operating normally their international tracking is the worst!

Yeah, I won't use them for sending international stuff unless I absolutely have to.

(Random story. The last international parcel I sent was by Parcelfarce (Global Priority) - what the buyer wanted - and it arrived 48hrs later by Fedex. Both of us were bemused, but happy as all was good!)
