It's unbelievable how often 14 years of Tories is raised by people complaining about them on the radio, TV etc and yet it all the way up to a mere two years ago that the nation was still fawning over them. It's depressing as to how even now so many will still umm and err about Labour and Starmer in the light of the sheer **** show of a party that has been in power all this time. The Labour of 2010 even was a pillar of excellence next to this useless bag of **** morons voted back in in 2019. It's also why I don't have too much time for the opposite camp, bemoaning a lack of left hand policies from current Labour. It's a phenomenally niaive, borderline simpleton level of political activist who can't see at this point that the UK population simply isn't left wing. It's a very clear centre-right wing nation that will gladly indulge in harder right arguments when it suits them. Labour only stands a chance on two basis: Being centre-left so as not to be off putting to too many voters and relying on the Tories being unpopular at the time. Fact is, Starmers loose approach to policies might be lacking in pazzazz but by god, he's played a blinder and is a thousand times over the superior choice on the table. It's only been a day or two and it's already going to be a painful GE.

Because we're at a point already where Sunk is either desperately panicked about the number of seats racists will grab via Reform or is actively trying to cause Tories to lose as many seats as possible in a 'you're going down with me' move....
Every 18-year-old would choose between joining the military or volunteering one weekend a month in the community.

National Service?! Is Sunak secretly a Labour sleeper agent tasked with bringing down the Tories from the inside?
What will it be next? Bringing back hanging? (****, they will do that. Why else are they intent on leaving the ECHR?)Last edited by Protocol Penguin; 25-05-2024, 23:10.

Whenever I hear about national service (the current government in Italy is clamoring the same thing), I wonder if the armed forces are actually want this and have enough money to support that.
Not to mention what cadets would actually do duirng their time. I was in the last year to be forced into national service but was left out due to blood in the kidneys (and, no, three independent tests highlighted no blood in my kidneys), one of my friends was drafted and basically spent a year doing nothing in the barracks: you can't have cadets marching because they will get tired (actual order coming from high command, no joke), not enough rifles or ammo for the firing range, uniforms recycled from previous years...due to my work I often interact with air force personnel and all career officers were happy about not having to spend money on 18 years old that would basically live at their expenses for a year.

It’s not about want, NATO’s armed forces are boutique forces (apart from the US). We’ve all built fancy toys and now have no one to use them, and thanks to the Tory’s our once well trained fighting soldiers have been whittled down to nothing, it’s a massive problem.
Germany are a joke.
France is better off with a decent size and decent experience.
Italy have zero combat experience and i wouldn’t rely on them in a fight.
The Nordic countries are no joke but zero experience in war, they have troops and wel maintained modern equipment though.
Russia is happy to burn through as many meatbags as it takes while threatening Nukes with the other hand to keep us out the fight.
All this is going going to come to a head when China invades Taiwan and the US needs to turn its full attention to that, Europe will be left to deal with Putin on its own, then what?Last edited by fishbowlhead; 26-05-2024, 11:08.
