She said it because it was widely known to the point of the likes of BBC, The Times and The Guardian reporting as such. She didn't say it for no reason and she certainly isn't the only one who said it.
Labour have clearly lied about her investigation being ongoing when it came out that it was completed in December and that she had actually met the requirements for whip restoration (completion of an antisemitism course).
Keir Starmer is now rushing to deny that she is barred for standing as a Labour MP at the General Election after keeping quiet about it for x amount of time. Clear damage control as a sign of just how badly the whole thing has been handled in an effort to try and oust the last of the Corbynistas.
