Indeed. As much as I love this place, I could write a series of books about the insane, illogical things here that can't just be passed off as 'cultural differences'.

I had a giggle at Square's post, too, but couldn't type anything that wouldn't sound like sour grapes or something

I meant as a place to visit, not to live – I only spent four weeks there!

Yeah I figured as much. That's probably the real reason why I didn't reply to it because I felt exactly the same way after coming back from my trips.

Asia Center of Japan in Akasaka was the best Tokyo hotel I stayed in. Free breakfast and free bottles of water in reception, too.

It’s not just videogames so doesn’t really answer your question but I would recommend Yodobashi Camera, it is right next to the station and just a huge (god knows how many floors but for example bigger than Selfridges) emporium of electronics of every shape and form. Can’t remember what floor the videogames are on but I went completely mad in there and bought loads of stuff.

I imagine you may want more specific shops though which I shall leave others to recommend. Wherever you get to you’ll love it but yr credit card won’t…lol!

Traders 1 & 2 are very good ? I got a Famicom Gameboy Micro there last week for ?55, mint condition (including packaging). Also the big Sofmap next to Taito Station is excellent.

If you're in there, make sure you visit Komen on the restaurant floor (8th) for their Ramen. It's the best I've ever had

Will ask again as everyone seemed to have missed it.

Quick question, has anyone on here applied for working holiday visas more than once? If so on the second time (after previously having one) was it accepted and if it was denied what happened?

I have heard of a few people having 2 (and even 3) working holiday visas even though the rules state you can only have one. I had mine 7 years ago now and am thinking of applying for another one but I want to know what the risks are and if I am unlucky and get refused what the consequences be. Unfortunately I have a very very uncommon surname so if they decide to look my name up on their system and Im still on it it will be very easy to spot me on there.

It's a pretty unsual situation to be honest, and as working holiday visas aren't easy to come by in the first place I'd be surprised if anybody knows the answer.

Arent easy to come by? They never used to use up their allocation and that was before they doubled it. They are easy to get.
